My mag collection could use some more 20rd mags. What's your preference? What makes it better/best?

I only have Pmags in 20s
I passed up an opportunity to have a giant moving box (think 3’ cube) full of old USGI Mags. The Sgt at the motor pool said it was ok. I smelled a tarp so I declined. |

USGI Colts.
Alloy follow that you can polish and make smooooooth. |

I have some Colt mags and PMags. I prefer them for prone and working up loads.

I actually like stainless 20s. The extra weight isn't as noticeable and they are more durable.

Okay USGI type, but with teflon finish rather than the grey shit.
They're $11.99 at a vendor I won't name. 2nd favorite would be lancers, which are only about a dollar more. I only use lancers for .300BLK and can cannon blanks, not because they're bad mags, but just for ammo segregation purposes. |

I've got several USGI aluminum follower mags. I had an overpressure during a range trip a few years back and felt kinda bad blowing the bottom out of an aluminum follower mag. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

USGI, since they always lock the bolt to the rear. My straight Magpuls can’t say that.

They're inexpensive and all have worked flawlessly. I didn't really need to try several brands.

My favorite are my Colt Hartford 20rd mags. The ones I use more than any other mags are Brownell's 20rd mags.
I have some Magpul 20rd mags, both early straight ones and later curved ones. Two of my AR's don't like them. The follower doesn't always capture the bolt, and they don't eject easily -- you have to pull them from the mag well. |

I have PMAGs and several old Adventureline metal mags I bought years ago. They all work.

USGI. They are aluminum and wont deteriorate over time like plastic will. I am currently 100% USGI by a few different manufacturers.

I've been using Brownells 20-rounders.
Linky In general, I like them, with one caution: I have beaucoups of these, and occasionally I get one that is too tight to drop free in a lower when the lower and mags are fairly new. This seems to improve as the lower and mags wear a little, but some still have to be pulled out manually (admittedly without much effort). I have used them in BCM, Colt, and PSA lowers and I think it's the mags that are tight, not the lowers. They seem to be uber reliable in Colt, BCM, and PSA complete weapons. |

I just ordered a few of the grey Surefeeds about a week ago. Also bought 10 FDE L5's for about $10.50 each. I like the L5 AWM's quite a bit better than the old style Lancers I have. I take it you feel the black finish holds up better than the teflon finish? ETA: I've also been using clear lancers for .300 blackout. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

If I just wanted 20rd mags, and didn't care about ammo segregation, I'd be torn between Okay and L5 AWMs, and would probably get both. |

Brownells, don’t see a reason to use a old surplus mag when you can get new Brownells mags. Got 5 more a couple weeks ago.

Original GI with aluminum follower. Adventureline or OK, please.
