What’s the hot shotty these days? Preferably one with a loud pumping action to help scare off intruders.
Seriouly, i’m in the market for a reliable shotgun for SD...what is the best option? Benelli? |

Mossberg 500a. Simple, and reliable
ETA, the loading tray lifts onto the bottom of the bold when the bolt I locked making reloading fast |

Rem 870 with a Scattergun Tech jumbo safety and extended mag tube.
|
|
The one you have.
The one you wish you had isn't going to do you much good . . . |

|
Older 870 Police or Wingmaster would be my first choice. Express is ok not a total deal breaker.
The Mossberg 500 series are on par with the Rem 870 and comparing new production I would choose a Moss over a Rem even though I like the safety location on the Rem870 more. |
|
Still 590, nothing’s changed drastically enough to improve that.

If you're going to go with a Mossberg, pick the 590. If Remington ever gets its QC issues fixed, the 870P

Quoted: FPNI, kind of. You meant 590A1. Or even better, a M590A1 SBS! https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/249712/Mossberg_M590A1_12ga___2__jpg-1012372.JPG View Quote |

590A1
Better safety location then Remington Better slide release location Loading gate site flush against bottom of bolt, facilitates easier reloads then spring loaded gate on 870 Heavier barrel I say this as the owner of 3 870s and zero 590A1s. |

Pumps are for chumps. Get a Benelli M1 Super 90 with ghost rings in the best condition you can find.

You can never go wrong with a Remington 870 or a Mossberg 500.

One that takes a bayonet.
While the sound of a pump may scare off neerdoewells, a bayonet adds an additional point you can make about their health to dissuade them from making bad choices. Additionally you won't have to worry as much about running dry during reloads. Last, you could be the first ARFCOMMER with a bayonet self-defense use story and become a legend. |

Maverick 88... low price, great gun. You will not worry about beating it up at that price either.

Benelli nova series View Quote I had a spare barrel cut down to 20" and use a MODB Browning BPS. Magnetic HIVIZ on the business-end rib, weapons light, sidesaddle and a tang safety. Converts back to a duck gun in about two minutes, and would make an outstanding club in a pinch. |
