[ARCHIVED THREAD] - What kind of bugs are these? Never seen them before

They are all over one of my trees. Not termites. Not ants. The big ones are about 3/8" long.

Anyone know?

Those are not cicada's. Cicada's are way longer than 3/8 inch.

Also, lot's of folks down south call cicada's Locusts.

They look to be a kissing bug variant. Conenose bugs.

Yeah they would herd together and move up the tree. There were 3 or 4 groups on one tree
