Arfcom"s answer is always funnier.

Duct tape and cyanoacrylate glue?
Alternate thread title: Why are my eyebrows and lashes missing? |
Do you mean the inner eyelids or the outer eyelids?
Guess it doesn't matter because the answer for both is ghosts. |
You jerk. Now I will lie awake all night trying to figure out the answer to this riddle...
I know a woman whose face was partially paralyzed in a car accident. She had gold sewn into her eyelid to help her close it.
So that's how she does it. |

Look at all those stupid replies... Magnets? Treadmills? Seriously people?
Get a clue. Everybody knows dikfers are what keeps your eyes closed when you sleep. C'mon man... C'mon. |
That crusty stuff that dries on the edge of your eyelids, like a glue.
The abject terror of opening your eyes and seeing the night demon floating over your paralyzed body ready to consume your eternal soul.
Gravity.
Your eyelids have tiny weights that swing them shut. That's where the idea for doll eyes originates. |
what keeps them open when youre awake?
is eyes closed the state of rest or is eyes open the state of rest? |
Spring loaded closed. You must overcome spring pressure to open them.
Duct tape? oops, already taken. Keep in mind at night the moon is on the other side of the earth, so it's gravity exerts a pull downward. If lying on one's back, this then is the explanation. Moon gravity pulls the eyelids closed.
Also, why do we call them lids? That is sort of strange. |
If you are in bed with a double bagger, and both bags happen to come off, then closed eyelids is nature's backup defense system.
