What optic do you have?
Why is that your choice of zero? |
I have an Aimpoint Comp M3 with 4 MOA dot on my HD AR.
I zero it about 2" high at 100 yds. |
50 for everything but my ACOG. Except for my lasers which are zeroed at 100.
My HD rifle has an Aimpoint PRO zeroed at 50. My M4gery has an Aimpoint CompM2 zeroed at 50. |

50/200 zero.
EOTech on my 10.3 SBR. Anything up close and personal I "aim high" by putting bottom tick mark of reticle on my target. |

My 556 guns get zeroed at 50/200 for irons and red dots. Any scoped gun gets zeroed at 100 since I am using BDC Nikon reticles.

Zero is basically irrelevant. The difference b/w a 50 yard, 100 yard, or even 200 yard zero at 15 or 20 feet in an actual gun fight is negligible.
Making head shots at 100 yards, zero is critical. Across the living room its meaningless, assuming you are not trying to shoot their ear off or knock a lit cigarette out of their mouth. |

Aimpoint M3 @ 50. I use it kill pests too, nothing leaves without a double lung or Texas heart shot.
I zero the ACOG for 100 and the RDSs for 75.
A 75 yard zero puts the center of impact closer to the point of aim than a 50 yard zero does, out to ~150 yards for 77 gr and ~180 yards for 55 gr (16" barrel). For a HD type rifle I much prefer more precision within 150 yards even if it results in less precision past 200 yards. |

Red dot and irons at 100 yds. beacuse, Paul Howe.

50y. based on 64gr bonded. Picked that because it has the tightest "spread" over the 50-250y range

View Quote Torso or head shot at longest unobstructed view in my house will still do the job at any of the common zero set points. |

50 with an Aimpoint. More important to know your offset though. At home distances, your zero won't matter much.
All 1x optics on rifles including the HD AR are 50yd zero.
Well other than my SBR EVO which has a 30yd zero |
Either open sights on one carbine, or the ACOG on the other. 50 sights, 100yd ACOG.
