I don't think many would disagree that the social fabric of the USA is starkly different than what it was just 20 years ago. What is your personal theory as to why?

Academia embraced Marxism and relativism. No system is better than any other with the caveat that capitalism is somehow the worst system.
Blame it on the failure of our supposed top tier of cultural thinking. |

No one thing.
-People move around a lot more for work. -Polarized society due to technology (social media, news channels catering to specific political niches). -Loss of cohesion due to increased diversity. -Secularized, consumerist society; not just religion itself, but because churches served as communities with social ties. I'm sure there are many other reasons as well. |

overreliance on government
poor or non-existent parenting (maybe stemming from increased divorce rate) less religious people (I'm athiest, but I can appreciate if most people follow the spirit of the NT they will act better) social media encouraging narcissistic behaviors in some SJW / "woke" / etc... activism amplified in companies which leads to competency not being the first and most important skill SJW / "woke" / etc... activism amplified in politicians which leads to bad lawmaking like zero dollar bail or decriminalization of theft under $1000 all news media corporations being greed driven and outsourcing of manufacturing to other countries |

No God — and I’m not even very religious. No traditional family values. Those two I’d say are the two main causes.
But also, we’ve made life here pretty damn easy. Yes I know, broad brush and very relative, but we have. While our country is in shambles we’re still better off than the vast majority of not the majority. So people come up with things to get riled up about. Some sort of contrived “oppression.” Which leads to division between the populace. We also have made it appear as if there are no consequences for your actions, or inactions. Which all boils down to one thing. Mother fucking liberals. |

The masses are being manipulated beyond their ability to believe. They're snapping one way or there other, to extremes.
The propaganda out now is extreme, along with daily news of fear and dread and uncertainty, people are just losing hope, which is the intent of the propaganda. Once they've lost hope, they'll accept any savior/new system to replace our "failed" one. |
