I fabbed a 4 fan array for the upper vents on my heatalator insert to supplement the OEM lower fan. Used 105 CFM 120mm cheapo $15 a pair Amazon pancake fans with individual speed controls. Wow! Huge difference, twice the heat with half the wood. Now I wonder now how long the fans will last moving 115-120 degree air for extended periods? So far so good.

made these last year before christmas, was a fun project. Attached File

I made the money to buy wifey her new walnut dining set. Does that count? Yea, thought not.
That was as manly as I could go, so I'll default to something I'll probably regret from a man card perspective. She also wanted a full sized wine Christmas wreath. When they were first introduced they were very expensive...$300 to $500, depending on who made it. Then China cottoned on, and you get them fairly cheaply now, but...the corks have non-existent vineyard labels and basically say "wine". Well, as it happens we drink a, um, fair bit of wine and happen to have a ton of corks. To her great skepticism, I told her I'd make her one. It cost a wreath form, a hot glue gun, a little synthetic greenery and one borderline second-degree burned finger. Important safety note, hot glue is not only very hot, it sticks like napalm. The original was mostly destroyed in the move, so I spent a good bit of last night The neighbors still have their doubts about it's origin, clinging to the belief I'm just a strutting lumberjack whose dogs make too much noise. I finished building our house in September. I installed metal siding on my 45’ RV cover last month. This week I matted and framed four big leaves the wife found. At this rate, I’ll be finger painting Christmas pictures next month.

Luckily you can get away with a lot of screwups with the soldering. In the end, I was able to make everything work, and FIT into the window frames. I made a metric ton of mistakes but I learned from every screwup. They're ready for installation but I need to root through an old hardware store's supply of window weights since I added about 7lbs of lead. I do want to make a Tiffany style foil banker's lamp shade after these, and a neighbor's, are done. |

I just made kydex edge protectors for all my axes.

I built furniture for years - but never a single piece that the "wife" did not consider a mistake. Kind of sucked. Multiple years of building (kind of about 6 years the industry - nothing I imagined I could not build) but in her mind anything I build is wrong. Sorry, forgot- I also built houses before I built furniture. Oh, and I forgot - technically I am a 3rd generation furniture builder.
Yes, I can build it - but my wife, she can not appreciate it. --- In all fairness. The stuff I did factory 30 years ago, I was supposed to do in a bit over 10 minutes. Really custom shit - maybe 20 minutes. At end of season, fuck we were doing 30 minutes... Now I might take 2 days to get it fucking perfect. Wife still views it a bit less than worthless. I waste time and materials - not that I am better at it than anyone she will hire. |

You can see the glop where the paint was too thick. You can also try a light undercoat followed by your main colors followed by a wash followed by highlights to get a bit more pop. |
