Nobody knows why flu disappeared. There are theories, the most notable of which is viral interference.
What we do know for certain is that it is NOT masks, lockdowns, or anything like that. Influenza disappeared globally almost a year ago, right around the time SARS-CoV-2 started spreading and prior to widespread adoption of societal destruction and antisocial measures. This includes places like Sweden, where they don't wear masks. Unless masks work to crush the flu when they aren't even worn and social distancing works before it's even tried, it is most definitely not that. |

Only 12% of covid tests in my neighborhood are positive. I don't know what the breakdown of the other 88% are in terms of colds and flu, but there are still plenty of respiratory viruses in the wild.

Oregon had two positive cases of the flu out of 3,058 tests during the week of January 16, 2021.
