I remember when this site was not about the money.
As far as the future? Very sterile discussion board powered by 'click-throughs' from search results. Right now, they are trying to figure out the amount of moderation, which allows the most 'click throughs' while being the most 'friendly to the average consumer'.. Complaining about moderation, over or under will not help. Someone is looking at BI metrics and analyzing the data. That is where your new CoC comes from. |

I kinda thought Brownells would do, you know, something. At some point. Like organize some 2A stuff. Or a centralized database of 2A bills by state every legislative session with mailing lists and numbers. Something to organize gun owners... oh whoops, the feds might shut them down after the next tangentially right-wing "domestic terror" event by leaning on someone like GoDaddy...
About the only ar15 branded content we see are those horrible youtube videos, and not only are they total fucking garbage, they're cringe on a level I expect from watching 12 year olds make tiktok videos. Occasionally complete with a reddit endorsed soyface fear grimace. At least now we dont have to listen to a brigade of retards talk about how you should "support the site" every other post since it's very transparently a corporate operation now (as if it wasn't a fairly valuable and monetized business even before the sale, and not some pity project the Avilas kept the lights on for). |

It’s funny, but I can remember when it transitioned. It wasn’t all at once of course, but it was fairly sudden. There was one incident that became a sort of bookend in my mind. A guy in the SF was organizing a “Group buy” of Mountain House freeze dried food. Discounts, plus free shipping at the $500 mark. He got banned for “Dealing without a loicence”. (Prior to that time, group buys were a regular thing in the community, welcomed and unregulated) This was maybe 2006? I still have most of the MH. Sure wish I woulda bought AAPL/GOOG/Amzn instead.

In the old days it was really fun, today not so much. In the old days Goatboy(Juan would write most of the code). Since the new owner is a for-profit entity, they will probably try to monetize ARFCOM as much as possible, you just laid down a whole bunch of money for it to be a non-profit.

Well, gun rights should be their #1 long term vision and I am sure it is, outside of that who knows.
But I would say that that is it. Everything else comes second [besides God]. Of course, the political angle is there as everyone knows that one side is adamant about taking away all gun rights, they may claim other wise but that is BS, while the GOP also is pretty shit, there are plenty who will fight for the 2A. So it really is a mix of 2A and pushing pro 2A candidates during primaries imo. |

Arfcom news is fun on YouTube, but they self censor. As do many (all?) other YT gun channels. A pro-gun video host site would be great. Arfcom being a place with uncensored gun videos would bring lots of traffic. |

If looking at the last two years I would think they're trying their hardest to make sure it doesn't exists in 5 years. Dropping the verified email address requirement to sign up, allowing trolls and individuals here only to fight to stay, and pushing away long term users who dare say anything to them? That can't be the actions of people who still want forum to exist in the future.
