Going to begin construction soon. 8' x 26'.  Planning on either using slot wall or doing a french cleat system.  I think all white would be too bright and black would be too dark.  I am sure it could look pretty fancy with a bunch of colors but, I am no decorator and a bit lazy when it comes to the finish work.  I'm all ears.

Light Grey walls with black gun hangy do-dads.

Or Ranger Green, which is God's color.

White.  Long and narrow with no natural light calls for white walls. It will be dark if you don’t.

ETA. At least mine did.

I did a slate gray and one red accent wall.

ETA: I mounted my gray Gallowtech panels to the red wall so it was more of a border than an entire red wall

Light gray or sand.

If I was doing a gun room, I'd pick something in a lighter, neutral color so that the guns stand out. I'd also do the floor in some sort of light tone solid color so I could find little springs and detents when I dropped them.

You must do a speckle color floor. It makes finding small parts you drop really easy.

Distressed saddle leather, but...finding someone who can do a good distressed finish isn't easy - or cheap. We did our study in Gig Harbor, and it turned out great.

I know a gentleman who used stained oak boards for his safe room walls.  Don't know what the specific stain color was, but it was more of a light-medium stain.

All white would not be too bright.

However, I am somewhat fond of something like maple.

A gray-green, my dad's is pretty sweet. Color name is evergreen fog.

He has a decent amount of black firearms and a bunch of walnut hunting rifles so to see them hanging there looks really damn good on contrast. Helps he has good lighting too

I used a gray/green color for the walls, LVP wood plank flooring, and tan Gallowtech.  I really need to work on the finishing touches and trim.

ETA:  Tell them you want the FLOOR space/interior walls to be 8' wide.  My builder was like "yOu aLwAyS mEaSuRe fRoM tHe cEnTeR oF tHe wAlL!"  I wish I would have known that beforehand.  I lost a significant amount of space on all dimensions due to wall thickness.  I was lucky that I was able to do what I wanted with the interior space.

Gallowtech is good.  I went cheaper with Craftsman wall system.  It’s more for tools but works great for hanging other ‘stuff’.

Medium gray walls
Black/charcoal trim

The use this to hang all your...stuff.

Put LED lighting (white, nothing with any other color or anything fancy or color-changing) around the edges of the displays.

Stainless steel.

Same for the floor and ceiling. Put a fake vault door in one of the walls.

What look are you going for? Armory? Western? Futuristic? Military? Cigar lounge? Practical?

The apparent color of the white depends greatly on the color temperature of your lighting. A white wall with 3000k, aka, soft white isn’t too hard on the eyes.
