I go to bed around 10pm, and there have been several nights in the last week according to my Samsung Gear watch (which I question its' accuracy), that my heart rate hits upwards of 170 bpm around midnight to 2am. I don't know how I'm not dead yet. I also don't know how long it has been like this, I only on a whim checked my heart rate. I got a new phone so the old logs are gone too.
I'll be going to the doctor, but wanted to get information until I can get an appointment. I'm mid 30s, 180 lbs and 5'9". I have a mildly physical job but I don't work out. My diet isn't great, but about average with a high sodium intake. I almost never eat or drink anything after dinner at 6pm, other than indulge in some bourbon on weekend nights. About two shots worth. High heart rate nights don't seem to coincide with bourbon. I used to have a bad energy drink problem, but I've nearly cut them out entirely. A year ago I was drinking two a day, I'm down to once a week or less. When I see a true resting heart rate, it's often times around mid 50 bpm, and see as low as 40 some nights too. Anyway, pray I don't die, and I'll make it to the doctor. Thanks for any info in advance. ETA I should also say my heart rate when sleeping can stay around 100-120 for hours. Usually when I'm sitting it's 80 or less. |

sleep apnea..... short duration of hypoxia causes heart rate increase.

Apnea would probably be #1.
Food allergies can also do it, if I eat the right (wrong) thing when my body starts to digest it a couple hours later my pulse skyrockets. |

Maybe PVC? I get them. Started taking magnesium every day and they are gone.
Avoid caffeine, alcohol, chocolate, rich foods, especially later in the evening. Definitely see a cardiologist. I thought I was going to die and they did the whole ultrasound of my heart and had to wear a monitor for 48 hours. Had one episode of 210bpm. That was fun... That’s high for sleeping. Alcohol, sodium, acid, caffeine, pretty much everything can affect your heart rate.
You need to see a cardiologist or an electrophysiologist and ask them to give you a heart monitor for a week or so. |

Record audio. You could be talking, snoring, having sex with something?

I am twenty years older than you, OP.
The drinking thing concerns me. I don't think you are drinking enough for your age. In fact, through the eyes of my generation, you don't drink enough and you measure your heart rate way too much. |

Quoted: Sleep anea. Ever have morning headaches? View Quote Not really no. I battled poor sleep for years, got medicated for it. I'm not medicated for it anymore. My daughter coming into my life has forced a better sleep pattern for me. (Too damn tired not to sleep anymore) I used to talk in my sleep a lot, but my better half says I don't anymore, and haven't for years. I also don't snore at all. I'll ask about it when I see the doctor. Thanks! |

I'm sure I'm considered 15 lbs overweight by the doctors, but whatever. I'm more slim than the average guy around me with a 32" waist. Fuck it. I'm not the guy I used to be, working out 6 days a week and struggling to gain weight. That stopped about 10 years ago. ETA: I know I need more rigorous exercise and will try to be better about it. A 2 year old at home just me and her on my weekends makes it hard to find time, combined with 11 hour days during the week. |

I think there is some condition where lying down causes increased heart rate, I can't remember what its called though.
Until you can get in to a Dr/Cardiologist, try sleeping in a recliner or something and see if your heart rate does the same thing. Sleep apnea can also cause issues. Magnesium deficiency can mess with heart rate so would be something to try also. |

Something is sucking your soul while you’re sleeping…
I accused my wife a while back of doing this to me and she answered with “I’m almost done”. |
|
Stress, caffeine and or alcohol would do that to me along with palpitations. Cardiologist has me on meds, I don't give a shit at work anymore and I pretty much quit caffeine and feel MUCH better.
I few drinks at night don't seem to bother. Get it figured out before you have the big one Brother. |
