Traffic blows everywhere unless you live in BFE.
Homeless/libs/illegals everywhere in any major city.
Expensive if you don't work there as the pay is much higher.
Can't carry I am not sure. I thought you get permits now.

Traffic blows, everything is dirty, libs/homeless/illegals everywhere, expensive, can't legally carry, etc.

Anaheim and Orange aren't bad but the 91 still sucks to drive.

Traffic is even worse in LA than anywhere but maybe DC or the Bay area. Homelessness is worse there than in quite a few other cities. I work in SoCal so my pay is okay, but LA is still very expensive if you look at rent/mortgage vs take home pay. No, you can't get permits in LA county.

There are certainly redeeming qualities of LA- I'm not arguing there. It's just weird for you to not understand why people might hate it if you spent so much time there.

I wouldn't put it in the worst 5, but I still don't like it and avoid it whenever possible.

Spending time in other areas makes it hard to understand. Traffic is shitty everywhere there is a major city. Same for homeless.

What would be your favorite 5?

Favorite 5? I'm not a huge city guy but if I had to choose 5 American cities to spend a weekend in...I'd probably choose NYC (Manhattan), San Diego, maybe DC just for the historical stuff.... there's 3. That's all I really got as far as standouts.

If we add foreign cities I'd have different answers.

Again, I think it's just strange you don't see why people would hate LA.

Such a cool city that has gone so far downhill. It's too bad. If it wasn't for the homeless issue it's a pretty great place to hang out in.

Yeah that's a pretty definitive list without listing suburbs/bedroom communities.  Gives the big picture of large areas to avoid.

San Francisco takes first place, that's for sure. Sounds like Seattle is a close second now. NYC and DC would take second and third, in no particular order. Flint probably takes fifth, just because of the water.

The thing about places like Detroit is that they have redeeming qualities. Places like SF and Seattle are just straight up liberal shitholes with no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Pittsburgh really isn't close to the others.

58 homicides last year

Use a Judgmental map and stay out if the areas marked "Detroit" or ghetto and you're good to go.

I was there in...2015 I guess. It was cool. The bridge is beautiful. The cable car museum is really neat, as is the whole cable car system. Great food. Great time for a long weekend. I didn't see Alcatraz, but I imagine it's pretty cool as well. There's a lot to see and do there.

Also note that stats are regularly juggled by the MSM, depending on what they're trying to push.

For murder alone, they'll post rate per 100,000 residents, total murders per year, or murders per sq. mile.

I don't get lists like this.... sure I wouldn't want to live there but there are much worse places. Those cities at least have high-paying jobs and attractions.

There are plenty other cities that have few attractions, shit job markets, massive crime, crap weather, crap laws, etc.

SF and Seattle have some of the highest wages of any metro area on Earth.

Not saying I'd live there (I did and hated Seattle) but they don't have zero qualities.

A place like Camden, NJ has zero redeeming qualities, however.

We should probably just go 1-5 in order of population.  But then we'd leave out turds like DC, Baltimore, and Detroit.

And don't forget Camden, NJ.  The worst place you've never heard of.
