What would be your top hard to find bourbon picks?
Weller, Blantons, Stagg,......??? List your top picks and I’m not talking about everyday finds like woodford, Buffalo trace, etc. |

107 OWA would be a daily for me if I could find it.
Sazerac is still my absolute favorite bourbon, however. |

Well,
Parker’s heritage collection Blanton gold Angels envy cask strength Jos A Magnus Michters 10 Widow Jane 12 I can’t really afford the good stuff |

Regular old Weller Special Reserve is somewhat hard to find around here, and very good. That and Elijah Craig are probably my favorite bourbons. 1792 Bottled in Bond is another somewhat rare bourbon that is really good.
This morning I passed up at bottle of Stagg at $89 and a bottle of Blantons at $119. Seems the liquor stores themselves are even marking them up nowadays. I did manage to get a bottle of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof for $60, so that was nice. |

ruling out every day finds is silly. There are standard shelf bottles that stack up well against limited edition bottles when tasted blind and ignoring hype.

I'd buy any of the BTAC lineup if I found it at or close to retail though. |

A surprising everyday find I stumbled on was Breckenridge.
I put it right up there with Blantons and Angels Envy. |

Met a new favorite today. It's a Canadian whiskey called HAYBURNER..... 80proof aged 6 years in Bourbon barrels. Pretty darn good when I sampled this evening.

Weller at the top of my list, followed by anything else in the Antique Collection. Everything E. H. Taylor is excellent, as is Blanton's. |

The best overall bourbon right now is four roses. They have a great lineup from bottom shelf to top.
Their SiB barrel strengths are phenomenal, but a little pricey. The nose and finish are unparalleled. I wish they were a little cheaper and more available. In a very close second is Wild Turkey. 101 is the pfp champ of shelfies, RR and RR rye are absolutely fantastic, and the LEs are pretty good (they hit it out of the park with cornerstone). Other good ones, Blantons sftb and sometimes gold. Regular Blantons is ok, RHF is good but etl is meh. ER is pretty solid for the ~30 price. The BTAC and pappy stuff is some of the most overhyped stuff around. I only enter lotteries so I can trade. |

I like to try new bourbons. My method is to go to the liquor store, look at bottles, and check out reviews on my phone.
This bourbon from Texas caught my eye, and the reviews were all very positive, fitting the flavor profile I enjoy. Here's a review. It describes the bourbon better than I can. I followed the reviewers advice, and poured it over a large ice ball, letting it sit for 10 minutes before drinking. I've got to say, this is one seriously tasty bourbon. Very rich and complex (especially for one aged only 24 months,) with a rye spiciness balanced by a corn sweetness, and a wonderful, long finish. Call me a heathen if you want for straying from the fatherland. This one has found a permanent home in my cabinet. Well done, Texas. 115-proof. Cost $49.99 at Total Wine. Ironroot Republic makes a few other bourbons, which I will definitely check out when I can find them. |

Old gran dad 114
Wild turkey rye Mellow corn Old forester bonded |

Angel's Envy has kicked Woodford Reserve out of the every day spot for me. Just the standard port finish, I haven't tried any of the others, but I really like it.

Everyday? OGD Bonded, Larceny
Wish I had regular access - Weller 12, Stagg Jr |

My wife and I rate all bourbons against three that we think are the standard:
Best cheap bourbon: Old Grand dad 114, at $22 is hard to beat for the cash. Best bang for the buck: Wild Turkey Rare Breed. A stunning barrel proof bourbon and at $42, it's a fucking steal. Best overall bourbon: Bookers Country Ham $75-90ish, the 3rd release of the year. I find it to be the most delicious bourbon I have ever had. Yes, there are stupid expensive drinks out there, but face it, they are not worth the money. |

My top picks...only because I was able to buy at msrp. The crazy secondary market is ridiculous. |
