That's one of my favorite movies.  I'm surprised it hasn't been remade yet with todays CGI.

Thomas Crown Affair. I'm sorry, Steve McQueen couldn't save that mess of a script.

True Grit.

Big John Wayne fan here, but like the remake much better.

Also, Casino Royale (Daniel Craig version.)

The new "Magnificent Seven" is OK, but I prefer the less politically-correct original.

No fucking way.  The 1933 version had more of an "adventure" feel to it.  The 1976 version was just a guy in a costume running around.  It was about one notch above a Godzilla movie.

Fay Wray and Willis O'Brien for the win.

I enjoyed them both.  The Stallone version for the 'comic book' style and the second for the genuine grit in the movie.

Airplane was an almost line-for-line remake of a movie called Zero Hour, but changed the tone to a comedy rather than disaster flick.

Seriously? The original talked about gladiator movies, seeing grown men naked, red zones, white zones, moonies, ebonics and sniffing glue?

Or is that where the "almost" part comes in?

No, not the 2016 film. The all-time great 1959 version was actually preceded by a 1925 silent version. Gotta be the best remake in the history of remakes.

NOT True Grit.  Never.

What you see there is Hollywood, which has lost its imagination, trying to recover money from a movie that was really really good, but using substandard actors

Same for most remakes.

When people are saying The Thing they are talking about the 1982 John Carpenter remake of the 1951 movie The Thing.  The other Thing movie that came out in 2011 is a prequel to the 1982 remake.
