These guys did real good.  That dog, however.

Wanted suspect shot after pointing gun at deputies

What was up with dog handler going right to left into the line of fire at a relatively critical point in time?

Same thing I asked when the video was released here, lucky he wasn't shot in the back.

It looked like he was more concerned about employing the dog (getting the ball from it's mouth/untangling the lead) than dealing with the lethal threat standing 2' in front of his face.

The POV officer did well

The K9 and his handler did not

Sure Sheriff, my pet dog would work great for police work, it's a German Shepard.

Good shoot though other then the handler being in the way. You don't want to be the cover the perp uses to stop bullets.

They should get a $20K on that puppy.

Is that dog a emotional support animal? Because it sure as fuck isn’t a police dog.

I’m starting to feel the same way about K9s that I do about tasers.

I’d rather have a taser than a K9

Useless dog

Handler was lucky not to die, twice

Don’t care that the guy was shot, he was wanted and had a gun. But.......

When they shot him, he didn’t have a gun in his hands. Did he go for something else?

He put the handgun on the small table then picked it back up at :36, got shot, then you see him possibly reaching for the AR15 that the officer fell on top of.

Also, the dog has a tennis ball in his mouth most of the time, which is something you usually see with drug dogs, not attack dogs.

Looks like the dog was more of a sniffer, and being used for intimidation more than effectiveness.    Dog was practically sitting on the perp and?!?

K9 handler is lucky to be alive and needs to find a desk - taking the support dog with him.

Dogs that don’t engage are a serious liability that create dangerous situations like you see here.  Handler was focused on corralling the dog after it didn’t engage putting him in a position he probably wouldn’t have put himself in otherwise.

That dog should be single purpose, or returned if still under warranty.

Also let the dog work the shed.  No reason to be up his ass like that.  Give up all your tactical advance in having a bullet sponge..I’m mean K9.

Attack or narc or EDD detection, that dog wasn't performing a search of any kind. It went in, grabbed a tennis ball in front of the hiding perp and wandered around.

Useful K9 got paired with a useless handler and, over time, did exactly what was expected of him: Nothing.

My thoughts as well.

Don't really see the benefit in two guys, standing in a straight line, through one entrance way into the shed, trying to deal with a guy with a gun.

Honestly, I don't know if I'd have felt comfortable pulling the trigger with my co-worker AND his fucking dog crowding my shot

Chaotic situation, made worse by a dog that just wanted to play.  Perp should have been shot immediately when he pointed the gun.  I thought it was going to end well when he put it down on command, but it looked like he reached for it again and got plugged for it.  Handler is lucky he didn't get shot by the perp and his partner while trying to coral his dog.

And now my ears will be ringing the rest of the day, just from watching that

The only upshot with the dog is that he didn't bite either deputy when the handler lost the lead. I fully expected that to happen, once things went to shit.

I've been around too many where, as the backing officer, the back part of your brain would be planning "double tap perp, step back, get hit by k9, try to get a clear shot on k9, apply TQ to self, render aid to suspect..."
