The U.S. will provide an additional $1.1 billion in aid to Ukraine, with funding for about 18 more advanced rocket systems and other weapons to counter drones that Russia has been using against Ukrainian troops, according to U.S. officials.
The latest package is being provided under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, which funds contracts to purchase weapons and equipment. And it brings the total of U.S. aid to Ukraine to nearly $17 billion since the Biden administration took office. Officials provided details of the package on condition of anonymity because it has not yet been made public. The aid announcement, expected later Wednesday, comes as Russia moves to annex parts of Russian-occupied Ukraine that held Kremlin-orchestrated referendums on living under Moscow's rule. The votes, denounced by Kyiv and the West as illegal and rigged, underscore that Russia's long-term goal remains taking control of Ukraine. |

At this point, why not just give them a US dollar printing press, and let them print however the fuck much they want?

So we fund Russia's invasion and occupation of half of Europe for 50 years and then we fund the people fighting Russia? I guess if Ukraine wins too much we will start lend leasing to Russia again.

So they approve like an additional $1Billion a day every day? Sometimes they'll just take 6 days off to trick us and approve $12Billion that day to make up for the lost days?

If you’re here bitching or posting stupid sarcastic remarks so you can look cool on the internet and haven’t written your elected representatives, then you are part of the problem.
It’s their duty to represent us and make decisions on our behalf. Its our duty to tell them what we want and vote them out when they don’t comply. |

Where are all the billions to defend our southern border? Isn't defending the country from invaders a prime if not the prime function of our republic? of our legislature? our executive branch?

Nope.
We have already allocated more money to Ukraine than Russia's last fiscal year defense budget. I think they're good now. If the Ukraine cannot appropriately allocate the over $60 billion already provided by the USA alone than tossing extra money on top of that will not help them. Ukraine had seven years to adequately fund their military and make improvements, but they did not do so to any significant degree. Hell, the front lines after 2014 were hardly improved by any State effort on the part of Ukraine, they were just dug out by hand trenches and not very well engineered defenses. Ukraine had seven years to purchase old stock hardware from nations like Romania and Poland that were upgrading their military as part of those nations' NATO commitment. I'm sorry, but the USA is not a charity. I'm happy to help in the fight against Russia, but the nation receiving help should at least be one that listened to the USA prior and took some reasonable steps not to be completely helpless. Also, what assurances do the American people have that our military aid will not be embezzled or sold and actually reach the warfighters? Why isn't the EU or at least the rest of NATO matching our funding commitments dollar for dollar when the EU has a combined GDP larger than the USA? Enough is enough. Even the most pro Ukraine supporter here has to admit this isn't being done to help the people of Ukraine this is being done to line the pockets of U.S. defense companies and make-up for the loss of revenue caused by the conclusion of the GWOT. Let's call a spade a spade here folks. |

Quoted: we are paying WAY TOO much in taxes View Quote Yes, you and most likely everyone here probably pay more in taxes than you do on your mortgage and all your costs of living combined each year. Most Americans are now working over three months of every year to pay taxes. The poor are pampered for votes and the wealthy are allowed to skirt their civic responsibilities while the middle class are kept down through the burden of taxes and various government fees. Makes me physically ill when I hear politicians give lip service to the middle class every election season. |

Quoted: Just another billion View Quote It sounds like a lot, and it is a lot, but we're talking about people who have spent well over $10 trillion over the past couple of years. Much of it on completely unnecessary bullshit. This is a rounding error to those people. At least we're getting something out of this. Better money spent than all of the covid and "infrastructure" spending. |
