I'm going to be a bit vague intentionally.
I have been working in my industry for twenty five years this month and have been going through the application and interview process for the past three months. The position has been held by he same guy for at least the past thirty years and is the "top spot" at this particular entity. After submitting my resume and letters of recommendation there was an interview with a panel of nine people. They interviewed five applicants and eliminated two. I was told by my "inside guy" that in his opinion I interviewed the best but there was a close second. Apparently they decided this position was "too important" to rely soley on an interview They asked the three of us to go through tests administered by an outside entity consisting of a personality and psychological evaluation. There were also proctored tests for logic, reasoning, leadership acumen, and mathematics. Lastly, an interview with an evaluator that centered mainly on leadership. Yesterday, my inside guy called and said they are meeting today at four with the company representative to go over the results of the evaluation. Without giving me details, he said by looking at the numbers presented on paper, he was shocked by the wide margin I stood apart from the other two candidates. Apparently it wasn't even close. Sounds like I have a really good shot at this job which would be an incredible opportunity and something I believe I would excel at. I have no idea how I am going to concentrate on work today. |

You're a threat to the current workforce and won't be selected. They don't want A players they want C players.
Half kidding, good luck! |
[future]Sorry you didn’t get the job.[/future]
Whenever you hear, “you are the best man for the job but” we thought it was xyz based on the criteria we started with and decided to change our selection process to get a different result. Hope this isn’t true for you.. |
I hope this goes well for you!
Although id be a bit wary of your friend(?)/insider “blowing smoke” up your rear. Id just worry aboit the potential to be disappointed is all. |
If what your inside guy said is true about your results of all that screening, you got the job.
Doubt a company would go through all that effort and then select a person who did not do better than you in such a rigorous process. |
NB4 your current management finds out and makes a more lucrative counter offer and you stay put.
I just want to tell you good luck, we're all counting on you.
Good luck.
I've been hoping Lowes or Dollar General calls me for an interview. Lol |
You are who you are. Nothing can take that away, no matter what happens. Believe in yourself!! Good luck!
You should turn it down when they offer you the job, just to see the look on their faces.
Let's just hope candidate #2 doesn't have a killer set of tits. Because management 101 teaches you to always hire the one with the best tits.
Good luck OP! Hope things work out even better than you could expect!!

This sounds like it was an interview for job in porn. Good luck OP!

Nothing scares people in authority positions worse than competence of others.
Be prepared to possibly be skipped over because of insecure leadership. |
Good luck brother. Just don't get your hopes too high. I did that once, same situation as yours and the let down was tremendous. Just be mentally prepared.
Coincidentally, I'm going for a physical this morning for a job I've applied for nearly a year ago. Already completed (1) computer based testing (2) application from hell, 20 pgs. (3) Webex interview 2-1. It's like a twelve step process and I'm at step seven. |
Best of luck, OP! Just said a prayer for you as well. Post up the happy results!
Sounds like it is high paying ..psych evals and panels of people?.. lol. Godspeed!
What is more nerve wreaking? Waiting on the new Bronco build slot or this new job??
Good Luck!! |
Best of luck! Relax today, you've done your part, take a break. The one thing that you want to find out is when they think that they will make an announcement .
The best feeling is getting a great job offer and accepting and then finishing the workday waiting for someone to piss you off so you can grin at them.
For all of that I hope the position pays $200k+.
Good luck OP. |
