President Trump on Friday was presented with the newly unveiled official flag of the U.S. Space Force (USSF) the first official flag of a new U.S. military service in 72 years. "This is a very special moment," Trump told reporters and gathered military leaders in the Oval Office. He also signed the 2020 Armed Forces Day Proclamation. ... According to a senior administration official, the flag is derived from the Space Force's seal, which features a silver delta symbol surrounded by two constellations cast against the dark blue of outer space. "The flag takes the key and central elements of the seal and places them on a black field fringed in platinum with the words 'United States Space Force' and Roman numerals MMXIX (2019) below," the administration official said. ... View Quote yeah... there was a thread on how star fleetish the logo looked like before Attached File air force claims it had been using a delta symbol for a while Trump unveils Space Force logo. Was it inspired by 'Star Trek?' The sci-fi-esque name of the Space Force has made it a popular topic for the president's critics, and some were quick to point to the similarity between the new logo and the insignia of the fictional Star Fleet from the "Star Trek" franchise. Actor George Takei, who starred in the original series, joked on Twitter that he was "expecting some royalties" from the new logo. The logo appears to actually be based on the existing Air Force Space Command logo which is also similar to the Star Fleet design. A U.S. Space Force spokesperson told FOX Business that the military branch's new seal "honors the Department of the Air Force's proud history and long-standing record of providing the best space capabilities in the world."
