Every winter-spring is typically a training season for mountain bike competitors. But it can be your training season too if you're a casual rider. A lot of people over look their bike and analyzing performance. They just go off of perceived effort and fitness to create their goals.
A commonly overlooked portion that can improve your time on the bike and provide a better overall rode is the DRIVETRAIN! Not just the drivetrain but your gear ratios! Have you ever thought about what would happen if say you added a 34t chainring from 32t with your 11-50 cassette? Or the opposite? Are the climbs killing you? Will a little less required effort allow you more energy to take a technical descent?
