Working my way through the Queens Gambit. Really enjoying it even though I know nothing about Chess.

I'm half way through "Mile 22." Enjoying it. No SJW crap so far. Dialog is fast but interesting; have to do some rewinding. And it's good to see Lauren Cohan again:
"Cohan joked that by the end of shooting, she had become so proficient with firearms and combat drills, that when she returned to The Walking Dead, she had to unlearn everything she was taught to fit back in on the show." (Maybe they could have taught Andrew "Rick" Lincoln how to hold a revolver." ) https://collider.com/lauren-cohan-interview-mile-22/ "Mark Wahlberg has said his latest action film character was partly inspired by former Donald Trump aide Steve Bannon." https://www.irishnews.com/magazine/entertainment/2018/09/11/news/trump-aide-inspired-mark-wahlberg-s-character-in-mile-22-1430694/ Finished watching it. Thought it was darned good. Interesting writing, plot. |

Can't decide what I think about Red Dot.
RT has it at 83%, and I've seen mixed reviews from audience members. Knowing going in that it had a plot twist meant that I pretty much saw it coming from a mile away, although not exactly what it ended up being. I'd give it a 2.5/5. |

Its just what they do (a cultural thing I guess) in some of their movies shows. Tribes of Europa dropped today. Its a post apocalyptic series set in Europe (with subtitles). |

watched the limited series 'behind her eyes'
kind of a weird love triangle story. a woman becomes involved with a married man who's unhappy, and that man's wife also befriends the woman. everyone has a mysterious past and nothing is as it seems. then, some other shit happens and the series takes a left turn.... |

Age of Samurai: Battle for Japan. Episode 1 was pretty good (informative). Although they say the katana was the greatest sword ever. I've never really known the story of daimyo, samurai, or really, any of Japan in 1467-1615.

View Quote The episodes are all good-to-great for the historical perspective. And they only said the katana may be the greatest in the first episode. This was a nice exposure to the history of feudal Japan for me, although there was no coverage of life for peasant Japan, economic Japan, metal working, farming, food, transport, tentacles. Just killing and war. |

Wow. Well done. Moving, considering from what I understand it just scratches the surface of the misery on reservations. Believable characters. A few faux pas about technical stuff but it plays into the drama well. |
