I only have one with a tripod and while stout, I doubt it would like auto or "rapid".
ETA: But I'll never find out as it went down with my boat. |

 Attached FileIt's their intended purpose. Now those aluminum camera tripods with the rifle adaptor? They may work if one of the legs is in line with the recoil. |
