I don't wants lots of discussion and suggestions or complaints in the YLYL thread, because that should ONLY be fun stuff.
So I am starting this thread in order to provide a place for people to discuss the new approach, to provide suggestions, or to just bitch about how they don't like it. But pleased do all of that in THIS thread, not the YLYL thread. Link to YLYL thread I am talking about: https://www.ar15.com/forums/general/You-Laugh-You-Lose-Official-Thread-READ-THE-OP-BEFORE-POSTING-/5-2438676/?r=91865030&page=1&anc=91865030#i91865030 |

Well I am just glad YLYL is back. There was notices banning YLYL and dark memes but not dank memes, bans on some meme threads but not memes in threads. It got confusing.
Thank you DK-Prof for helping resurrect humor threads. |

It's inherently a very difficult thing to "manage" precisely because it is so subjective, and it's virtually impossible to define exactly WHERE the line is - so I totally get if people are a little skeptical (or just confused). We hope this will work out. If it turns out there's a better way, then we'll do that instead. Thank you DK-Prof for helping resurrect humor threads. It was very much a joint effort. There's been a lot of discussion among GD mods and Staff behind the scenes ... I'm just the guy who drew the short straw. |

Our of curiosity, why did you not make it in the Team section? Give the idiots at least $24 to lose.

Why not adopt a BOTD approach ?
Or a "the pit" approach. Have a seperate "less restrictive" version ? |

View Quote Two reasons (1) We definitely wanted it to be in GD, since that's where it has always been, and where lots of people post (2) We don't WANT to screw anyone, and we recognize that some people might accidentally cross the line, or genuinely post something that they thought was okay ... so we don't want to go out of our way to "punish" people. Ultimately, the goal is just to keep the thread open, not to ban people. |

My $0.02
Should have just let it be and not started a new one. They will be so watered down as to not offend anyone, might as well just post “dad jokes” |

I hope it can last. Shits funny...That's all i have to say about that.

View Quote That's actually a good example of something that's too close to the line, and would be a good idea to NOT post in the thread. Of course, I recognize the dilemma, that this thread cannot become the thread where we post example of what is "over the line" - because then we'd be posting things that cannot be posted. |

Can we ban hammer the flagrant offenders? That seemed to be the major issue, the lack of consequences.

As a potential rule of thumb, maybe ask yourself "would I be okay telling this joke at a family gathering?" or "would this joke be okay to send out in a work email?" - if you can definitely answer yes to those questions, then you are probably fine. (And again, this is not a rule - so please don't post a meme making a dark holocaust joke, and then defend it by saying you work at a crematorium and you and your colleagues make Jew/oven jokes all the time, so therefore it should be okay because you WOULD send this joke in a work email. Again, I am not describing a rule - I am giving an example).
I would. Who is going to reprimand me, when I'm the owner? Family gatherings-when most of your female cousins are nurses/doctors and their sense of humor is as morbid and cringe as it gets... lets say, if they posted here, there'd be poop threads and half taking dick pills would hear horror stories of the 4 hour staying power and what's done to remedy that... they'd never touch viagra/cialis ever again... Oh, feelz were hurt? It's a joke. Not a dick. Don't take it so hard... But noooo.... Muh feelz reigns supreme... When/if flair returns. There should be a snowflake one for those reporting memes and jokes. Make them easily identifiable to others to place them on ignore so there's no ban hammers swung. Better yet. Ban the reporters from YLYL thread. You know they won't be able to help themselves for reporting memes jokes copypastas... The zealots couldn't help themselves and got @beitodesstrafe a peepee smack recently. Why they weren't banned from that thread... if they were that offended... Guess if he was being blasphemous, my Spikes Crusader would be heresy and ban worthy going by their logic... (Not that it matters, it's done and over with, I'm Catholic, I didn't find any offense in the thread title or posts that followed. Others couldn't help themselves and feigned outrage...) That's how it ought to be. Those that can't handle variety in humor and have to find feelz offending in every little thing should not be allowed to view/participate that thread. That's how I'd handle it. Remember-Younger generations are signing up here. Our sense of humor is like food under communism. Not everyone gets it. It's dark. Edgy. Offensive. Effective against leftists that find offense in every. Little. Thing. They'll get the hammer if someone can't help themselves and tie their profession, their religion, their whatever to the meme/gif/joke to justify hurt feelz. To that, I say, congratulations. You played yourself. Talk all that shit on how liberals/leftists/commies are ruining the nation/society as a whole with finding offense in everything, subjectively dictating what is and isn't "acceptable" "politically correct". You're right there with them doing the exact same thing... and you're supposedly better than them, how?... That's not saying post up 88er nonsense, or anything that makes a direct threat/endorsement of violence... That's saying lighten the fuck up without throwing a lamp or can of slim fast at them. But, as sure and certain as death and taxes... someone's going to brainlet out and take whatever is said/posted out of context, possibly make false accusations to justify hurt feelz or take what I said above as trying to break rules push boundaries etc... when I merely explained zoomer/millennial humor is vastly different than older generations humor and is not inherently as the left declares-phobosisticismist in nature. Or pro anarchy/anti law enforcement like most believe it to be... Or anti boomer. (Our parents/grandparents are boomers) Etc etc... It'd be awesome if everyone could just sever the feelz/take themselves/everything so serious, and simply appreciate, maybe even learn of others humor without getting ass cancer and Reporting all the things... |

View Quote I mean, I get it, but you have to have a few brain cells firing for it to be vulgar enough to draw COC wrath. I'd think that would be in the clear for the most part. |

can we change the name to OFFICIAL YLYL SKIM MILK EDITION ?
I think that would more accurately describe it under the new rule and you wouldn't have to have that first post explaining. |

I’m not posting in the wenie hut general ylyl thread. Arf was my safe space from safe spaces.
On a much more broad and serious note addressing the underlying issues around us that have caused the loss of our beloved YLYL thread in a ripple effect: Appeasement, obedience, and Following the rules is what got us into this mess. |

By the time a meme makes it here it's days old and maybe jalapeno spicy. If it ain't supporting illegal activity who cares. Even if it's mocking BS laws in the same, meh. But I'm not trying to dodge AWS EULA. Might be part of the problem.
