As is, I am the only mod there, and deal with things as they arise, by report mostly. Staff has too much on their plates to be front line mods, too. Putting YLYL in team would, by necessity, require way more babysitting and active intervention than any one mod could handle, and it would make team GD, besides. Team is supposed to be a more serious space for contemplation and discussion. It's been working well for a long time now. We shouldn't mess with that, imo. |

Because there is no standard line... I know, and it’s very frustrating - both for mods and for members. This is an attempt to try to have a fun thread, but not get too out of control. Hopefully it will work. If it doesn’t work, we will try something else. We want to have a fun thread like that in GD - we just want to avoid having edgelords post hilarious jokes about eating our your grandma at her funeral after she was fucked to death by a horse.

Unfortunately, every time we have had a “dark humor” thread, it has gone to shit pretty quickly. “Anything goes” threads don’t work, because edgelords will post nazi jokes, incest jokes, child porn jokes, etc ... and will then act outraged and offended if anyone dares to criticize it or suggest maybe that’s a bit too much. |

| Basically, humor threads are like bikini pictures in GD - if everyone was willing to be a responsible adult, we could easily have them. But someone ALWAYS has to push the line, and then someone else pushes it a little further, etc ... and we end up going off the rails. |

I wish our YLYL could be as awesome as the nzhuntingandshooting.co.nz. I got in trouble for posting a meme from there in the last ylyl thread. They may have crappy gun laws, but you can buy a silencer over the counter, and they can post kick ass memes without them being measured against "offending" or "being used against us". I like mu humor somewhere in between Jerry Clower and Sam Kennison. From Andy Griffith to Sanford and Son. From George Burns to Richard Pryor. I saw a thread earlier where a mod had edited the quoted lyrics to "Aqualung" . Is "dont stand so close to me next"? How about "Sir Psycho Sexy"? I've seen actual videos of WAP allowed so wtf? |

What is their membership count compared to ARFCOM? The law of large numbers comes into play. With as many people as we have on the site at any one time, were will have a massively diverse group of posters all with different POV when it comes to any topic, not just humor. Makes it a tough job to keep people between the navigational beacons. |

So, we're not establishing standard, clearly defined lines and leaving things fast and loose subjective at the discretion of one's feelz, why? I mention the threats thing because of the ban I earned over copy pasta... had a good conversation with that staff member over that one. When it was explained to me the whole de-platforming based off hearsay of "threats", threats that never even existed... Okay, makes sense, doesn't help we made national media attention over being de-platformed either, thus putting us all under an even bigger microscope... Lesson learned- following a copy pasta.Or else, it will be taken as a threat. |
