I have a 2022 in 9mm I picked up on a whim a couple of years ago. I agree, it's a damn nice pistol and a very much underappreciated platform. In some ways I like if better than my 228. Ergonomics, the leverage for the slide release and hammer release are much better. Accuracy and trigger is at least as good as my 228. Field-stripping is maybe easier on the 228.
Also have a 320 Carry that I enjoy but that's a bit of apples versus oranges. |

OP is correct. The SIGpro P2022 is an overlooked and undervalued pistol.

LTC qualified with my SP2022 9mm. Hadn't shot in a year and did just fine.

Love me some P2022, one of the few guns that fit in my hands perfectly.

They really are a great handgun. When I bring people to the range I usually have a G19 and a SP2022 to show striker fired vs DA/SA.
They are priced extremely well and on the used/surplus market are a steal. My SP2009 was a used Swiss police gun that I send back to Sig for refurbishment and new night sights put on. I keep a two lock boxes with SP2009 and a SP2022 at either end of the house. |
|
Not from what I've read it's not. The best pistol Sig ever made was the P210.

My first handgun purchase was a SP2022 in .40. It did have some break-in issues and had to go back to the factory. It has been GTG since. I converted it to .357SIG and still carry it occasionally.
I do disagree with it being easier to disassemble and re-assemble than the P22X series. It can sometimes be a pain to keep the recoil spring compressed while lining up the slide release and barrel loop during reassembly. I much prefer the takedown lever on my P229. |

The sp series is a great value.
B&T is also making a side folding stock for it that uses the replaceable grip panel. First new part for the sig in years. |
|
I see it as the beginnings of the end for Sig. This transitioned into the P250 and it all went down hill from there......
|
|
OP, I always enjoy your threads and typically agree with you. However, with that said, the Sig Pro whatever does not even begin to compete with the awesomeness that is the Sig 210 series.

Love my SP2022. Crazy good buy and (so far) reliable and accurate.
ETA: Wish I could find holsters for it. Anyone know of a Safariland ALS that will work with the gun with an X300? Le sigh... |
|
|
I really enjoyed my SP2340 and have both .40 and .357 barrels for it. I don’t use it much anymore. The night sights need to be replaced and the texture is mostly gone from one side of the grip.
I like the P220 and P226 better. I have not decided whether I like the P320 yet. |

Polymer frame. That's what's not to like. I'll stick with the old 220s and 226s.
Edit: And as stated above, the 210 is the best pistol Sig ever made. ETA2: Aren't you partial to metal framed S&W autos? |

Best value, given they were often under $400... I agree with.
Best pistol, nah. I like my nice p226's more, as well as my nice p320's. But they cost more. |

Self contained fire control group and obvious P320 lines to demonstrate the heritage. I stand by my statement.
The p320 is nothing but an evolution of concepts Sig worked in to this pistol. It is the pre beta version of the p320. |

My SP2022 stays in my nightstand. Damn good gun and I think I gave $325 for it several years ago.
I bought it probably a month before Sandy Hook and all that craziness went down. I like my full size P320 better but the SP2022 is no slouch. |
|
Yeah, no.
They aren't bad but they aren't the best Sigs ever made lol |
|
How in the heck do you maintain a proper grip on one of those and not render the slide stop lever useless?

The only SIG I've never had a problem with in some form or fashion.
And I've owned 226, 226R, 229, 225/P6, and a few others |

I've got three of the old classic P series from the 80's-90's. Don't care for any of the new ones.

The military didn't adopt GLOCK. That is clearly the best. But the SP line was never in the running. The craptastic P320 was and underbid GLOCK. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

If it was the best the US military would have adopted it. Glock half-assed the trials anyway. It’s not like they were serious about their entry. |

The SP is the final evolution of the P22x line. The P250 and P320 is its own abomination. The SP line had nothing to do with it. The 210 isn't a modern Sig. That's like me comparing a S&W New Model DA .44 to a Model 29. View Quote |
