They seemed to have forgotten from their civics classes how this works. I doubt you could get 2/3rds of Congress or 3/4ths of the states to agree that the sky is blue or it's dark at night.

This.
And honestly, looking at red vs. blue America, and how many state legislatures are under GOP control, I wonder just how well it's going to work out for them?
Actually, I think that every time they make a run at complaining about the 2nd Amendment, it only helps our side.
1. If they recognize the 2A as being "the problem" then that's a tacit admission they agree with our interpretation (aka "plain reading") of the Amendment.
2. It gets our side riled up, which is good, because anything Libertarian-Right is like herding cats to get us to do anything en-masse.
3. It cuts off all their support from "RKBA moderates" because by talking about simply doing away with the 2A, even people with weaksauce Fudd interpretations of the 2A feel threatened.
4. As noted above, the requirements for passage and ratification of a new Amendment or repeal are incredibly high, to nigh impossible. So every ounce of anti-RKBA energy wasted on it is good.
5. Because of #4 above, it's almost an admission that they don't expect to "win" anyway. Honestly, all the butthurt over this is simply because Trump is in office, and "Blue America" is desperate for ways to strike back at "Red America". Honestly, on the "Gore and Heartstrings Meter" Sandy Hook was WAY BIGGER than Parkland, both in body count, and the outrage factor because it was younger gradeschool kids. (And that Lanza didn't even know the kids he was shooting, the Parkland kids have at least some shred of culpability for bullying and ostracizing Cruz. Yet, this time the anti-RKBA response is much stronger. It can only be Trump Derangement Syndrome. Which from a purely RKBA standpoint, and ignoring the larger culture-war, is a good thing because the next big cause to "resist" will come along.
