I have a vector SBR.

Agree, it's pretty awesome.  If you have a penchant for the pre-89 Euro guns, it's a "must have."

I bit the bullet and bought about 12 of the off GB for about $50 a piece.

I figured if I am owning the rifle, then I need to at least stock up and have enough to run it.

Yep.  It's a cool looking, decently accurate, 40 year old gun with no decent safety/selector, horrible trigger, and no bolt hold open.
This is coming from an HK fan boy of sorts.  It's a cool range toy, but an AR15 kicks its ass every time in reliability, ergonomics, weight, accuracy.
and cleaning/maintenance/armorer upkeep.

Before I bought my HK MP5A3, I was looking into them. That was back in the early 90's when I bought my MP5 for only $2,700. I couldn't find any HK53's for sale back then, otherwise I might have bought one instead of that MP5. I later traded that MP5 on my Colt M16A1 (plus some cash from the buyer to make up the disparity). It's too late now as even the MP5 sells for about $30,000 and the HK53 probably sells for $35-$40,000. I'll stick with my cheaper Colt M16A1. I did scratch that HK roller locked rifle itch by buying a PTR 91. That's as much money as I'm willing to spend on any of those type firearms. I'm down to $30,000 left in my home mortgage. I'd rather pay off the house - in less than 10 years - than buy an HK53.

I love my HK53 clone. It's a lot of fun to shoot. Suppresses well. Satisfying HK bolt slap. Folding stock makes for a very compact weapon. Great backpack rifle. The AR15 is a great 5.56 weapon, but this is a fun alternative. Especially if you invest in a HK registered sear.

My son has a couple of upgraded C93s. I believe he's think of going the SBR route on one of them.

HK53s are nice guns and generally more reliable than an AR15/M16 of a similar barrel length.   I am not sure how practical either are with 5.56 out of an ~8" barrel, but they sure are fun and put out an impressive fireball at night if you remove the flash hider.

I have a Vector V53 I turned into a SBR years ago and a TSC built SBR which was made from a German HK93 and HK53 parts kit which is currently in transfer to me.

Good luck with your 53 300BLK build.

Heavy as fuck compared to an AR15/M16 with short barrels and modern "pistol stock".  Mags are heave af compared to AR mags.  You can buy 10 AR's for the price of 1 HK53.  Great gun but not worth it, except as a collector level type gun to shoot.

The 53 is ~1lbs heavier than a 10" short barrel M16.   However for me the weight balance is different as on a MK18 most of the weight feels more forward as the barrel is longer by 2" and their is probably a metal rail system and gas block hanging off the end.

The HK53 alot of the weight is in the bigger/heavier BCG, steel receiver, and steel FCG and trigger box vs. a primarily aluminum and polymer back end on the MK18 with a lighter profile M16 BGC.

The original 30rd steel HK33 series mags are build like a brick shithouse.  The 40rd aluminum Maylay mags are much lighter (but not not as light as a PMAG or Alum STANAG mag)

Yeah that's probably why I feel that way

I also forgot my MK18 has a Elcan on it Its heavy AF when set up all the way

With same accessories minus the Elcan the 53 does feel lighter to me but perhaps that's due to balance like you mention

Dual push pin?  As in two push pins for the rear receiver block?  Or one for the rear receiver block, and one for the front of the trigger pack?

Definitely want an HK53.
Definitely not willing to part with the cash it would take to get one.

I did have a PTR-32.  Those are built on a standard PTR receiver - which is larger and heavier than it needs to be for the 7.62x39 (since their standard receiver is built to handle .308 recoil).  On the plus side, it took standard AK mags.
