There’s A Devil in the Drum- J.F. Lucy

Very unique perspective. An Irishman in an Irish unit within the British Army. Was in the Army prewar and fought the entirety of the Battle of the Frontiers. One of the few survivors of his unit, he was eventually commissioned.

Best first-person WWI account I've read and that has stuck with me for years is Robert Graves "Goodbye to All That." And his WWI account is only part of the memoir.
