Going through my old iPhone pictures and found these.

Got to do an air show at MCAS Beaufort, and on Sunday afternoon after the show ended, we beat the Blue Angels to the runway to take off and go home. I was sitting on the runway for a good 5 minutes waiting IFR release with these dudes waiting for me to takeoff and get out of the way. It was pretty cool. Sorry for the low quality iPhone pics, this was like 2012. Thought GD would enjoy.

Like most of your replies.. Just shit before the premium content.

ETA: Just prior to Covid I was at NAS for their practice runs and the announcer said something like "next up is Joe Blow. Joe is going ro perform his first solo today. Once he clears the airspace the Angels will begin".

Joe got a pretty good round of applause, but I could only imagine his nerves as the following act is pretty good. I suspect you felt the same way.

Beautiful day.  Why didn't you just pick up your IFR in the air?

Teaching in the T-6 was awesome.

Fully aerobatic, 0/0 seats, enough instantaneous power with the PT-6 to get out of most jams, great legs on cross countries….

Awesome picture. I've flown the T-6A in formation in simulator and struggled every time. Never actually been in one. I'm really impressed with with you all that do so.

Believe it or not, flying the T-6 sim in every phase of flight was exponentially harder than the actual aircraft. Great procedural trainer, but for anything else, not so much.

I expected that, the sim flight model of the T-6 A/B isn't all that great which adds to the difficulty. Like you said, great for procedure. Fingers crossed I'll get a chance to fly along in one one of these days.

Cool pics OP. Anytime you feel like sharing some of your adventures during that phase of your life I, and I’m sure others would love to hear.

Conversely I had to sit at the end of the runway at PNS and watch them one day. Came very close to having to go back for more gas. Shut an engine down. Worth it.

We would 2-hop from Del Rio to Pensacola often, on student cross counties. Because reasons.

Let me tell you though, that vfr sectional depicting what looks like land south of New Orleans…

That’s another story… and an iPhone video if I can find it.

As fun as the 2-seat trainer was, sometime we would spend the night at a cool FBO and other dudes showed up.

I’ve spent a lot of time flying float planes and helicopters south of NO. Not a whole lot of ‘Land.’ Lol
