Our permanent deer camp was started at pretty much the same time.

The photos from back then look similarly awesome.

My grandfather was one of the original members, I’m 3rd generation.

We have that same red cooler up there still. Still have the lid though it is no longer attached.

Looks the same as today to me.  Only the clothes are different.
Why aren't they hunting?  It's daylight out!

Texas deer hunters have traditionally been among the best citizens in the country.

I was raised by some of them, and the lessons were bigger than those great deer camps.

Yep!!

When I was a little boy it was flannel shirt, jeans and  that woodland type camo hat

Buck 110

I had a milsurp canteen

No fancy hunting specific clothes besides a hat or vest maybe

Maybe that's why your deer seasons got so regulated, ny. Lol.

But, seriously, it sucks. I miss the good old days.

Does constructing a fire ring that can be seen from space count as permanent?

If so, we have one of those.

We have been going for 15 years.

Because for us old fucks, deer camp isn't just for hunting. It's poker, drinking and good food too. Don't worry, the deer aren't going anywhere.

At least we have land to hunt and deer to hunt on them.

Deer hunters all over the country are traditionally pretty fuddish though.

Other than the shitty photo quality, it looks just like the deer camp I've been going to my whole life.

This stuff still happens every year. Some of you guys really need to get out of the city or suburbs.

Got lots of family photos, and Super 8 film of the family and our yearly hunting camp up in the north woods.

Built a sauna each year and had 20-30 family for a week or more of horsing around, with a little bit of hunting thrown in.

Here's a photo of Grandma and Grandpa at camp.  Grandma was always packin'

Deer camp isn't the same anymore.

Thanks to hunting shows and the culture it creates everyone is antler crazy now, takes all the fun out of camp when it turns into a job.

Man, the Texas pics and your pics remind me of when we hunted in Colorado and Texas in the mid 70s.
Dad was Army (from Texas) and stationed at Fort Carson in the mid 70s. We'd hunt Colorado and then go to the Grandparents in Texas and hunt some more.
