Video in article A Tesla Supercharger station in California’s Bay Area was recently hit by vandals who cut each and every charging cable, rendering the entire site useless. Vandalism of Tesla vehicles is not uncommon, and we have reported on it many times in the past. Tesla Superchargers are also prone to various forms of vandalism and abuse, with damage to charging stalls or the act of “ICEing,” which entails gas-powered cars blocking Supercharger piles, all being popular forms of disruption. However, we are now seeing vandalism continue in a strange and extremely disruptive way. A Bay Area Supercharger with several stalls was completely rendered useless after people sliced each of the cables from the individual piles. A TikTok of the incident was shared by user K9Optima, which occurred at the Tesla Supercharger in Vallejo, California, behind a Target: |

I'm not into EVs either right now but I'm not opposed to other people having them. Why would someone cut the cables?

They could switch to aluminum but it would be about as thick as a soda can and they’ll probably steal it anyway Assuming it’s 750 copper(I have no idea what they actually use), it’s about 2.8lbs/foot and they probably get $3/lb at their shady scrap yard that requires no signature or license |

It's not vandalism, it's theft. They are stealing the copper. I'm surprised it took this long.

Same thing happened at multiple locations in Houston. My bet is on antifa/black bloc types pissed off at Musk. They started a mini riot at the German Tesla factory the other day

It’s the Bay Area, doubt there’s many EV haters who want to vandalize to make a statement. There are however a bunch of thieves who have realized they can steal anything and not get caught or charged |

I'm kinda curious how they're not getting lit up like Christmas trees while cutting them. No current until they're hooked up to a vehicle?

Of course, their virtue signaling will be non existent when their catalytic convertor gets stolen and sold to the same type of criminal scrap yard. Then it'll be different because it effects them personally. |
