There's a pretty good source for free Excel to just do your taxes yourself. Personally, I find the for-pay and online software to be shit and not worth the even $20 bucks they charge for it, and limiting to all but the most simple of returns. I get errors and stuff the IRS has bitched about, audited me, and then sent ME money twice now when I do the for-pay online shit; so I'm done with those things. And I'm not big enough to justify going to a 3rd party in person. So screw it, I just fill it out myself now. That way I can see what's going on myself. Pretty much all of the various IRS forms are in there as tabs all cross linked back, so it's a fairly easy but complete fill-out. And it's free (though I probably should throw the guy a couple bucks, TBH).
And no, no macro's.
He has CY 2023 already in there, but last update was in December, so slow-roll it a bit; as in general he finds a few tweaks in the first of the year; as it's semi-croudsourced with feedback that he'll correct.
He's done this for enough years now the backbone is proven out, and now it's just the annual tax-code change tweaks that he updates. You can start now, but be sure to go back in a couple weeks to get the latest.
