Frame wax coating is garbage, and is likely rusting a lot underneath. My 2014 also had the A/C compressor die, and the nav/radio screen died. Also burnt a quart of oil between oil changes. I'll never own another POS GM truck.

Seems like a lot of money .
I had a 2015 work truck model with LT type options. 5.3 And four-wheel-drive. Bought it with around 20,000 miles on it for about 29K and sold it a few years later with 70,000 miles on it for about 20 k It had 3:08 gear ratio which was comically too high to begin with, but with 35 inch tires it could barely keep six gear. on the highway. (down low it was still pretty good.) I put a Diablo tuner on it to disable active fuel management annd correct the speedo, that seemed to actually help fuel mileage and power . All in all I like the truck wish I would’ve kept it and had the differentials regard to 4:56. Attached File Attached File |

At these infuckingsane prices I'll drive my 98 z71 forever lmao

Quoted: 36 grand was probably the price for that new. I understand that we are in the midst of strange times, but buying a used pickup for new pickup prices, and a GM AFM truck at that, is one of the dumber things you could do. View Quote The new GMs are pricy and shit tho. The pre 2019 body is basically the last good GM full-size pickups that will ever exist. |

Had a 2018 2wd LT that I bought new for $33k. That is 3yr older, though it has 4wd. I still think that price is insane.

Might want to look into a new truck just to see what’s out there and what the cost is.
$51,000.00 (- $9,000.00 trade in) for a 2022 Duramax Chevy 1500 Custom Trail Boss w/ 10 speed tranny, factory 2in lift and Goodyear P275/75R18 tires. I was getting an average of 28.5 mpg on the way home from hunting last week all the way to the house, low end is 26+ mpg city and hwy. That’s competitive with the 2019 Rav4 I traded in. Free oil changes (twice a year) for life of the truck as long as I own it. Body style isn’t my favorite, but it works and does what I need it to. I’m so happy with the truck I ask myself why I waited so long. |

Quoted: The 6spd is a solid. It was the 8spd that had all the issues, and that was all because of the wrong fluid was used. View Quote It wasn't the wrong fluid, it was fluid that absorbed to much moisture and lost its shear. If the 8spds got the updated fluid and flush early in life they are good to go. To the OP, this seems to Be a nice truck but they are definitely high. They are basing the value on condition and low milage and they will probably get it. You have to decide what those factors are worth to you. Make an offer, ya never know I bought an 18 LTZ with a 6.2 and 8spd, Max tow package with 5100 miles on it for 40k it was 56k New and it's been great. That said I won't keep it past about 80 k miles . I worked on them for years, ill keep a newer one in the driveway. |

For context, Carva offered me $29.9k for my 2015 double cab Silverado. LT. Currently has 47,XXX miles on it. So $36k isn't out 9f the question these weird days.
Attached File I didn't sell it. Was just curious. While I'm very low miles, I've had zero issues on this truck. Attached File |

I have a 2015 z71 silverado. put 80,000 miles on so far not one problem. I keep on top of the maintenance. Change oil every 4000 miles and changed all fluids at 60,000. |

I got my 2014 Z71 4x4 crew cab brand new for that price. Inflation sucks.
I’d take it on the highway, my whole truck shook going over 75, center console shook like a mofo, drinks would rattle and shit. Also there are major issues with the brake pump on those. (Or whatever part it is, sorry not a car guy). When I would shift to reverse I would lose all breaking power and about hit a few cars backing up, it’s like the whole car just shit the bed when throwing it in reverse. It’s a known defect and the fix was like $1k. |

I have the same truck, but 2014 with 56,000 miles. It has been flawless. I bought used with 37,000 in 2018 for about $23,000. I keep miles driven low and have replaced all fluids around 51,000. I am aware of the problems, but they are not as common as portrayed. I would certainly take a 2015 over any dodge.

The only used truck I would buy for that money is a Tundra but that’s me.

Quoted: I would pass. It is priced high and the used car market is collapsing with interest rates, repos, and more availability. Besides that, those trucks have lifter issues (not if but when) and some trans issues. View Quote The Benz dealership in Montana also had a GMC side. Always laughed when a fairly new truck rolled in down a cylinder or two. Those guys got good at fixing them, it was a constant issue. |

GM master tech here…
Those are one of the best trucks GM has built on in a while. That 5.3 is solid as hell. Yeah, some have had lifter issues, but it’s just a gamble. My wife’s 15 Tahoe has almost 180k on it and never any lifter problems. And if you do have lifter issues, just do the DOD/AFM delete and have a truck that will run for plenty of miles. There’s really nothing wrong with AFM but if mine ever had to be fixed I would get rid of it just to make sure it doesn’t happen again. The 6 speed were bad about the torque converter and pump taking a dump and burning up clutches due to low line pressure. We bought by wife’s Tahoe about a year and a half ago with 149k on it and trans was on its way out. I rebuilt it about two weeks after we got it, but I had planned for that before we decided to buy it because I knew it was on its way when we test drove it. The good news is, once they have been gone through, they are usually rock solid. That is, assuming whoever rebuilds it knows what they are doing and does it right. I’ve lost count of how many 6 speeds I have rebuilt and I have not had one come back on me yet. Beyond that, they are damn near bullet proof. They have small problems here and there, like vacuum pumps, radio displays/HMI modules, and a/c condensers, but every make and model has its problems. All that said, price is fairly high even with low miles. That truck was probably 35-40k new, give or take. But the market is nuts right now. I would try to get a better deal on it but I would not hesitate to buy a 15-18 Silverado in general. [Edit: OP, feel free to IM me the last 8 of the VIN if you’d like and I can pull the warranty history and see if it’s already had anything repaired. ] |

Quoted: Buddy of mine is the owner of the local GM dealership in town and said the exact same thing. 2015-2018 models have poopy transmissions and the parts pipeline is not in good shape. View Quote I have a subcontractor painter with a 2015 model that lost his transmission last month. He went out and bought a used tundra. Check the blue book value of the truck.
Assume worst case scenario that the vehicle gets totaled in obviously a very unfortunate event. How.much would you be out of pocket? Are you paying cash or financing? Will the bank even give you that much for it? I get the market, but I would advise against alot of overhead. In the end, what the seller wants and what the blue book is plays a factor. Overall, I think it's a bit overpriced, maybe $25K with no rust. |
