Thanks to Putin, the Baltic is now a NATO lake. And NATO now has strategic depth on its` northern flank it couldn`t have dreamed of during the Cold War.
Apparently Sweden and Finland take Putin at his word. |

Quoted: Typical Neo-Con trash; always throwing chamberlain into the gutter. If it was not for him, the RAF would have never been the fighting force they turned into and the battle of Britain could have easily been lost. The "Appeasement" gave the UK precious time to completely modernize the RAF and Chamberlain was behind it all with him being behind substantial increases in spending to modernize the RAF. He also poured funds into fighters, not disasterous fight/bombers like Churchill wanted. Quit spitting on the imagine of Chamberlain to somehow justify your goofy world view. View Quote Tell that to the Poles. |

His conventional military sucks, the world can see it, and he knows it. The only question is whether he's competent to |

Quoted: Extraordinary times were living in. One step closer to WWIII. As Sweden joins NATO, it bids farewell to more than two centuries of neutrality View Quote I would love to know your thoughts on the Rooftop Koreans and their role in defending their neighborhood against the Rodney king rioters. Because I’m getting some serious bed wetting “better red than dead” kind of no-energy energy from your posts. |

Isn't Sweden run by chicks? They're looking for some security.

Aligning themselves against Russia. They know they’re a target.

From the US - F16s (40 new) and modernization kits for their existing fleet . From various NATO nations - lifting of arms embargo |

Hell yeah! Glad to see Hungary and Turkey finally agreed to let them in.
LOL at the losers pissing and moaning over our alliance growing and becoming stronger. |

"...the Generals sat, and the lines on the map, moved from side to side.."
/famous British lyricist/ Sounds like Sweden is choosing sides. |

Quoted: They did it to get access to that sweet, sweet Canadian bagged milk. View Quote Not sure when they stopped in, but a local dairy in Mid-Michigan did the bagged milk thing too at least until the early 90s. Michigan also doesn't care if one pays with Canadian pennies and dimes. As for Sweden I am a fan of IKEA. Do we get a discount now? |

Norway is cool in my book. Lillyhammer is a great show. It's Silvio Dante's sequel. The guy who plays Torgeir--the right hand man--steals the show. |

So, in wartime NATO plans....what does AFNORTH look like now?
When it was just Norway, we were reinforcing the Norwegians with the 10th Mountain Division, a Marine Brigade (by air, as we'd prepositioned their gear in caves in central Norway), the UK/Dutch Marine Commando brigade, and (IIRC) one of the Army Reserve brigades (this was before we got rid of the Combat Arms units from the Army Reserve). Now we got Sweden and Finland in the game, what changes? Other than that we've got a longer frontier to fight for. |

View Quote This chart is stupid. Adjust the spending relative to populations of the countries in question. I agree that the rest of NATO needs to put out a bit more, but if you want to have a discussion make it an honest one. The UK has roughly 1/5 the population of the US and England is roughly the physical size of North Carolina, for example. In relative terms then, we spend pretty close to the same amount as they do. Norway has a population of about 5.5 million. So multiply their contribution by 61 to get the relative amount they spent. Really, the chart is bullshit. |

View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Somebody else we will have to pay for? A fellow ‘04 bro spittin truths. Now we get to foot the bill for the Swede’s defenses. Awesome. The Swedes have a pretty damned good defense industry on their own. JAS-39 Gripen, M4 Carl Gustav, 340 AEW&C aircraft, CB90 Fast Attack Craft, etc. Saab is like Boeing, Lockmart, and Northrop Grumman rolled into one. SAAB Defense Now, if only their cops could regain control of Malmö... |

I need only be concerned with the supply of swedish meatballs and gjetost cheese. I know they allegedly hate each other, but they're broskis in a lot of ways. The cheese must flow
At least that's what the baghdad bobs tell me that's all that should be concerning. Just a big FAGGOT poutine lover to notice anything moving towards big conflicts |

The whole collective defense is a good idea, but I wonder how many of our Nato allies would actually back us or decide to sit it out if our mainland got attacked (or nuked)
