Why did the Emperor no longer use Clones for stormtroopers after he took over?
Wouldn't they have done the job better than recruiting normal folks? |

I believe attrition from battle thinned the ranks of the clone armory. After that, the Empire started recruiting/conscripting. Remember, the clone army took years and great cost to fabricate.

In the Pre-quels and the Clone Wars show they were portrayed as being excellent soldiers and marksman. Since Storm Troopers couldn't hit water, if they fell out of a boat and lost a battle to a bunch of midget muppets, they had to come up with some bullshit to explain that.

Cost and time.
Each clone could have been a Jango Fett taking on a Jedi, but limited budget means limited training. Plus, conscription/recruitment can get you manpower in the field in 3 months, instead of 3 years to develop a clone. |

I keep seeing cost being a factor.
Yet, wouldn't a galactic empire spanning 10K systems & trillions of subjects, not have the taxes to spend on at least a Clone Rapid Response Force? How much did the Emperor spend on 2 Death Stars and Super Destroyers? |

This gives a fairly reasonable explainaition based off the extended 'cannon'. Additionally, clones were artificailly aged so the original clone troopers would be dead of old age or far beyond their prime before the original Star Wars movie.

The empire saw conscripted soldiers as a cheaper option compared to the costly clones. Although the clones were far superior troopers, it was more cost effective to invest in larger numbers that weren't as well trained.

Non-clone troopers is a good way to handle potential troublemakers, especially when they have lots of training "accidents".

Because it was a throwaway line in Star Wars alluding to some greater backstory that we'd never see because we hopped into the middle of the serial without knowing what was up, so it was just a tale that each of us could fill in the blanks in our own imagination when Obi Wan said it to Luke. Much like how "Ani was a good friend" did not mean "I left him on fire on his charred stumps on some hell-planet and walked off as he twitched and burned".
The logistics of clone troopers as presented are absurd, and would require far more resources than manufacturing a shitton of droids, or just flinging rocks down on a planet from orbit. It's just a show, you should really just relax. |

The Clones were fielded after 9 years after their birth. They had accelerated learning and of course physically they were 18, but they were still essentially children when they started their journey as soldiers. Under the command of the Jedi they were instilled with a lot of the Jedi's values and even in the cases where the Jedi were bad commanders they were still influenced by the Jedi, heavily. Yes, Order 66 made them execute the Jedi, but I believe Palpatine would have seen them as still "tainted" by the Jedi. So, I think that's one reason.
The other reason was that the Clones had filled their purpose. If you read the Darth Plagueis novel it's very clear that the acquisition of the clones from Kamino had less to do with their quality as soldiers as more to do with the fact that they could be programed to kill the Jedi. Once Order 66 can been carried out they had filled their purpose. The Clone Wars was never really a true conflict since Palpatine controlled both sides and so it was shut down and the focus became control of the Galaxy, which Palpatine couldn't do with Clones since Kamino would never be able to produce them in the numbers required to garrison every world in the Empire. I also think, that we're going to see a Clone Rebellion, that sadly, will be short lived. Many of the Clone fought very hard for their individuality, they believed strongly in the Republic, and there are definitely a few legions that were very loyal to the Jedi. All of these things were taken away from them by the Empire. I think we'll see via "Bad Batch" that about half of the clones, if not more, are going to end up in full on rebellion and likely most of them will be destroyed leaving very few clones left in the Imperial Stormtrooper core. With the accelerated aging many will be retired and we're already seeing in "Bad Batch" that a lot of clones are just deserting due to the low moral (Empire is treating them like shit) and some are coming to grips with what happened to them with Order 66. |

The above video explains it pretty well.
The Empire didn't completely give up on Cloning though, and then there are combat droids like K2SO or the Dark Trooper Project which is even cheaper than dealing with expiring meat droids. |

Palpatine tends to favor discarding people once they have filled their purpose.
He has no loyalty whatsoever to anyone. Palpatine finished off his master as soon as he was elected Supreme Chancellor. Palpatine discarded Maul once he found he was alive. Palpatine without batting an eye allowed Dooku to be killed by Anakin and once a younger and more healthy/strong potential apprentice came along in the form of Luke Skywalker he was ready to discard Vader. The dude is pure evil and uses people and then discards them, because as a Sith he believes to his core that literally every living person is nothing more than a tool to elevate him. He has embraced the Sith teachings of his master that he shouldn't have his judgment clouded by feelings of compassion, empathy, or remorse. Palpatine honestly felt guilt about executing his parents, but Plagueis had him tell the story of how he did it over and over and over until he meant nothing to him until all the shame and sorrow of it were gone from him. |

.
simple explanation is usually correct because it's hard to push a diversity agenda when everybody is genetically identical therefore, canon must change . |

View Quote You're not wrong. If you look at the Bad Batch episode where the introduce the elite Storm Trooper unit that Crosshair is assigned to you'll see it's a "check box" of every minority group for ultimate diversity. So, clearly the real reason is "diversity." by woke Disney via KK's tyranny over Lucas Film. |

I get the impression that the clones were conditioned for combat versus occupational work. Placing them in an occupation or "peacekeeping" role gives them time to realize they are going against their role as "liberators" by becoming part of the oppressive Empire. Good troops follow orders only goes so far when the people you were trained to protect are re-branded as your enemy. They began to question why the partisans they fought with in the last war are now considered enemies of the Empire.
BY purging the clone force and replacing it with indigenous troops is also good for the well being of the general populace. Instead of a tool of war and oppression, the new troops are made of the people themselves. They are family and friends and members of the community and Empire as a whole. They're also oblivious to the conflicting orders that the clones were beginning to question. |
