While waiting in the confessional line, I noticed a prayer card with a beautiful image of St. Joseph with the child Jesus.  I am not a connoisseur of art, but the image really inspired me.  It showed a strong and powerful St. Joseph descending steps while holding a blond child Jesus.  Very vivid.  I would like to find a larger copy of it.  I will update this post for an image of that painting when I find it.

If you have any favorite St. Joseph art or prayers, please post them here.

The Litany of Saint Joseph

Lord, have mercy on us.
Christ, have mercy on us.
Lord, have mercy on us. Christ, hear us.
Christ, graciously hear us.
God the Father of Heaven,
Have mercy on us.
God the Son, Redeemer of the world,
Have mercy on us.
God the Holy Spirit,
Have mercy on us.
Holy Trinity, One God,
Have mercy on us.
Holy Mary, pray for us .
Saint Joseph, pray for us.
Illustrious son of David, etc.
Light of the patriarchs,
Spouse of the Mother of God,
Chaste guardian of the Virgin,
Foster-father of the Son of God,
Watchful defender of Christ,
Head of the Holy Family,
Joseph most just,
Joseph most chaste,
Joseph most prudent,
Joseph most valiant,
Joseph most obedient,
Joseph most faithful,
Mirror of patience,
Lover of poverty,
Model of workmen ,
Glory of domestic life,
Guardian of virgins,
Pillar of families,
Solace of the afflicted,
Hope of the sick,
Patron of the dying,
Terror of demons,
Protector of Holy Church,

Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world,
Spare us, O Lord.
Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world,
Graciously hear us, O Lord.
Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world,
Have mercy on us.

V. He made him the lord of His household,
R. And prince over all His possessions.

Let Us Pray.

O God, Who in Thine ineffable providence didst choose Blessed Joseph to be the spouse of Thy most Holy Mother, grant that as we venerate him as our protector on earth, we may deserve to have him as our intercessor in Heaven, Thou Who livest and reignest forever and ever.
R. Amen.

Thanks for this, abnk. Good stuff!

Maybe because my Father's name is "Joseph," and my middle name is as well--I've got an affinity to St. Joseph.

Perhaps the most touching image I've seen of our Blessed Lord and St. Joseph with Our Lady at the bedside, is that entitled "Death of St. Joseph by Cano Alonzo."

If you've ever been at a parent or relative's deathbed, watched their last earthly breath leave them...then you know what I mean.

This says it all: unending love, strength, promise, the look of reassurance, or as St. Paul says: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith."

The Little Office of the BVM has a commemoration for St. Joseph to be said after the final prayer of Lauds and Vespers.  pg. 213 if you have a copy of it.

October is the month of St. Joseph, and we were given a handout with prayers for his intercession to say after rosaries.  And of course, I wouldn't have a copy of it handy.

I'll try to get another after Mass today and post a pic of it.

St. Joseph, most chaste spouse
