https://www.autoevolution.com/news/someone-surrendered-a-pink-tank-under-ongoing-weapons-amnesty-program-159032.html "At the end of January this year, the Czech police announced that, under an amendment to the Weapons Act, anyone who had illegal weapons or ammunition could turn them in to the authorities or take steps to have them legalized, if possible. The holders would face no punishment, the announcement said. The campaign started right away and will continue until the end of July this year. With the announcement, the police released a video that was, more or less, an exaggerated take on what they expected to have people turning in. More specifically, it showed someone driving a tank into the police HQ parking lot, handing it over to two very amazed cops, and then walking away." "The other day, the police announced that, to their surprise, someone did turn a tank in. Actually, two tanks were surrendered: a self-propelled gun SD-100 (SU-100 tank destroyer), and a medium T34/85 tank, which, for whatever reason, is now rocking a faded pepto bismol pink layer of paint. The stories this machine could tell, we can only imagine." |

When I hear Pink Tank, I knew it was Czech. Theres a pink IS1 near Prague.

I would take that T-34/85 and convert it into a Beutepanzer, complete with German markings

Quoted: What kind of perverted person paints a tank pink? View Quote With increasing concerns of a global water shortage there was a thread here about the movie Tank Girl coming to a desert near you. You just know if they made a reboot of it they would paint the poor thing pink. But as others have said, that might make sense for desert camouflage. |

Makes you wonder how many wwII tanks are still out in the wild sitting in barns. Why the hell would you turn one of those in!

Dam, how fast Czech has fallen.
We traveled there in the mid 90s and it was freedom central. Lots of guns and gun parts to be had in the junk shops etc. They knew how to have fun over there too. The pink tank was most likely a party tank, filled with girls, pot and booze in the 90s, |

I doubt it had any working guns.
Its basically a hunk of metal with a shitty diesel motor. |

I thought Czech had good gun laws. Guess we are (or were) the last man standing.

Quoted: What kind of perverted person paints a tank pink? View Quote We had to re-paint a 40' cattle trailer once, my grandpa wanted to go cheap and he got some paint from a friend of his who was in the ship building business. It was a 2-part paint they used for the underside of the ships, anyway it started out as a rust colored red but it didn't take long and after a couple of months it faded to PINK! I guess it was old paint or my grandpa didn't mix it correctly LOL |

The guy at the Sherwin Williams in Ostrava told him it was Desert Dirt Color. The original color the British painted their vehicles in the desert was called “salmon” iirc...... it turned pink |

I sure could use a Tank on the ranch. If only I had caught him before he turned it in.

Quoted: What kind of perverted person paints a tank pink? View Quote They didn't have enough red lead primer to cover the tank and they didn't have enough white lead primer either. But if they combined what they had they'd have enough to primer tank. So they mixed the two and painted the tank pink, but they never could decide what the final paint scheme was going to be. |

Old paint with an iron component, that degraded and aged to a pink color? I know at a paper-mill, Iron gives them fits because your paper can turn pink real fast with just a little iron contamination in the water supply.
