I just got this watch for 6 bucks at the thrift store. I recently got into watches and honestly just bought this because it said Seiko.

I wanted to give it to my daughter, but I can’t figure out how to change the battery. There is no grooves in the back like my other Seiko and I don’t want to scratch it up anymore than I already did.

I’m assuming this is a cheap watch, but not sure. I wanted to practice on something like this as opposed to one of my newer ones. Any help would be appreciated!

There has to be a groove. Look again. It may be VERY small.

I just did. It almost looks like it would screw or snap on. I can’t find an indent for the life of me

Take it to a jeweler that sells and services watches.

Try a small rubber ball or a handful of duct tape balled up sticky side out.  If you're lucky its not tight and will come off (assuming its a screw down caseback)

Thanks all. I took it to the jeweler who put a battery in it for me for 8 bucks.

In the future, take it to a jeweler who sells and works on seikos

Some of the Seiko watches are tricky to work on

How did he get it open?

You were right, there was a really small indent/hole on the side opposite the crown. He told me that he put a small screw driver into it and tapped it with a small mallet which caused the case back to open. It took him about 30 seconds
