Have pixel phone and like Google messages Not great but usable I've been wanting to go to iPhone for a few months due to all the AI additions to software If I want to use AI I will I've been against apple since their 3g update bricked my phone many moons ago |

| Ive had Google Pixel phones for the past several years, and the 'Droid' phones before that. GM sends messages and receives messages. Im not sure what else it 'could do/doesnt do' that is that big of an issue. |

Your inability to figure out a messaging app is the problem. The nice thing about Android is it let's you use a different app for texts if you want. |

OP, have you tried downloading the Samsung messaging app from the Samsung app store? It's free. It might also be on google play, but I don't recall. I had the same thing happen to me on an update a long time ago. It took me a while to figure out what had happened and how to correct it. |

Apple made a distinct choice over that, using the psychology of self image of insecure people. They could have chosen to make Android user’s texts show up as green bubbles, to differentiate texts from other iPhones. Instead, they CHOSE to make the iPhone owner’s text turn green when they’re texting with an Android user. It’s a subtle difference, but it really irks some people that another person(‘s device), is changing THEIR bubble (vs many Android messaging apps where it doesn’t matter, because you can select different looks, from squarer bubbles, to more rounded, and also select different colors for your texts, and received texts. I think the messaging app on my Samsung even allowed selecting specific colors for texts from different numbers, which helps if you regularly text 3 different people named John M). Peer pressure is a thing, and using tricks like this to force an increase in market share, is still an increase. |

I've had two Samsung droid phones and only one of them was worth a crap. Galaxy Nexus. The other one was ass. The updates would take forever to get pushed and then would ultimately tank my phone. I use Pixel phones now and don't have any issues. |

Op running Android version that doesn't allow use of Samsung messages. It's literally discontinued and will most likely not even work when side loaded on newer versions of Android. You're 3 generations, about to be 4, behind which is why it's still a thing for you. Your version of the store hasn't updated to lock you out from downloading your compatible version of messages. This is not an option for OP. |

That could be jarring for a user expecting their app to be there. On top of that, since Google Messenger replaced it, the preset configuration settings include drive backup. Therefore, any image, video, or file that has been sent via text is now backed up—taking a huge amount of space to your Gmail account. If that account backup fills your drive space, your Gmail account will no longer accept inbound emails. That’s a problem for most. You must go into your Google settings to disable message backup to your drive so that your backup doesn’t fill your drive space. |

Meh. Google Messages works just fine for me. I mean, it took a couple adjustments to make voice recognition work with it but that was a matter of a few minutes. I would never have an iPhone as my main phone. |

The android devices I’ve had were vendor supported for maybe 18 months to 24 months at most. Then there’s the really ridiculous stuff, like I just got a security update for a 14 year old MacBook Pro running a seven year old OS. Apple is a lot of things, but a company that abandons their hardware they are not. |

Samsung Messenger allowed customized notifications so I could ignore the multitude of texts where I signed up for marketing. I don't need to read them all but they're nice to get for the ocassional coupon. I finally figured out that I can snooze those texts and that does the same thing. I don't need my SMS app to be fancy, just to do the few things I want. |

I'm perfectly happy with my S26 Ultra, and it costs more than most iPhone models. BTW I owned an iPhone for 11 months. It bent in half due to poor manufacturing and design. Apple never acknowledged the issue but quietly fixed it with the next revision. Fuk Apple and their iTunes nonsense. At least you finally have a real charge port. |

Lots of people acting like the only choices are an iPhone or a Galaxy, and that they are synonymous with iOS and Android. On the Apple side, yes, it's a package. You get the hardware and the operating system and the support as a package. It's like marrying an Mediterranean descended woman - you get the body and the food, but you also get the family, the temper, and the drama. You don't get to pick and choose. And for a lot people, that's great. But if you dislike the hardware, or iOS, or Apple, the choices are myriad - you just need to look a bit. Samsung has the largest share of the Android OS market in the US, and they've started acting like Apple in trying to create a closed ecosystem. But there are a number of other hardware manufacturers AND versions of Android. Google makes phones and uses a more "pure" version of Android. OnePlus makes/made really nice phones, and started with the CyanogenMod version of Android then switched to their own, which isn't bad. I've been using them for years, though I'll likely switch at my next purchase. Someone else mentioned Kyocera. There's Motorola. Also, you aren't limited to whatever phone is "free" with your plan. Like your provider but don't like your phone? Buy an unlocked model of your choice and move your SIM card. Tl;Dr: it's not a binary choice. |
