...doing something I never thought I'd EVER do in a million years... And that's get an iPhone... ugh This force move to Google messages is not a welcome change, GM is absolute DOGSHIT. Rant over...maybe. |

They fucked up Android Auto on my phone with one of their updates and killed its battery life, and then fucked up Dex mode on my Galaxy tablet. Luckily I was able to roll the tablet back to an update where Dex mode actually does as advertised. And put the battery life on the tablet back to where it was; it was ruined by the update, too. I can't roll the phone back, because they like to lock up your hardware and prevent you from doing what you want with the stuff you paid for. Will not be buying any Samsung products again. |

| It took me a little while to get used to GM, but it was foisted on me long time ago (S21ultra). What don't you like about it. After 2 years + I can't remember what clouds I was yelling at lol. |

My wife was dealing with that issue last week. She didn’t know why her drive storage was maxed out. Apparently with the switch Google configured the SMS backups automatically saved in Drive. It was totally full so it was about to stop any incoming emails being delivered. I walked her through the issue but I kept saying that you don’t have to deal with Google taking over your phone and altering settings if you have an iPhone. Of course with that automated setting, I’m sure Google was trying to get people to upgrade their Google Drive storage plans. He next phone may be Apple. She is the only Samsung holdout in our family. The kids and I have all switched. No regrets. |

| Google messages isn't just trash because visually looks like shit, doesn't meld with Samsung themes, doesn't let you access files to send images through sorted gallery images (and when it does it lies and restricts the size when picked through gallery vs recent images)... it also pings text alerts in vehicle text to speech twice. Every text is somehow reported twice. Get on a group text with 5 or 10 messages... amd its 10 or 20 alerts. |

I have used both since they both came out on the market. Honestly I think the iphone can be the better device but it is behind on features. However, most of those features are vetted and just work. Generally iphone security is much better. I see more android users having hardware issues with their particular phone models than iphone users. Pros and cons to each. iphone has longer support cycles of operating system software. Older vetted hardware. Possibly better security. Locked ecosystem. Android has usually latest features. Faster processors, better screens, etc, etc. Somewhat open ecosystem. I like my pc open source. My phone I like to just work. YMMV. |

| My kids have iPhones, my wife rocks the latest iPhone Pro Max, as a former IT Manager I supported an entire network of iPhones for a company. My Samsung Galaxy S24+ I thought I might replace this Fall, but the changes are so minimal and the phone works as good as day one, I'm waiting another year before I replace it with another Samsung Galaxy phone. Nothing wrong with iPhones. |

| I liked my Fold 5 I had until Google Fi kept deleting their service from my phone and when I switched carriers I got an iphone for free. Switching takes some getting used to, now I would probably just stay iphone since I already have a good bit of their crap already, not sure how much of it will get along with another product. |

S24+ user for my personal up from an S8. Love this S24+ as it's simply amazing in all respects. Work phone is an iphone 17. Several times a day I'd like to put the iPhone on a post and put a 45 acp through it. God damn frustrating. Fucking hate it. If you go from android to iPhone then get ready to reset your brain. Good luck And yes the GM is absolute dog shit. Just trying to type dog shit is enough for me to cuss it. |

I use Textra or Signal on Graphene OS Pixel but thankfully I dont give much care to messaging or messaging drama. I certainly dont care about bubble color. damnson. I have had multiple ipads and they are not impressive for my use. But I used to get them free from work so I still use them. |
| You are not wrong. Samsung/ Verizon forced updates bricked my previous Samsung phone. It was so common there was an article in Cnet about it. Samsung blamed verizon, verizon blamed samsung and both said fuck the customer . I lost a job opportunity as a result of the brick as well as pictures and text messages, Verizon customer service is garbage. Verizon offered cloud storage saved 1 out of every 10 pictures saved to their cloud when you tried to recover them. I own a Kyocera phone . It takes mediocre pictures but is reliable and rarely has a forced update. I had apple work phones for a while. I hated the user interface. It did get better reception in rural areas than samsung. |

Samsung pissed me off with updates that changed shit on my old phone, screw that. Bought a Motorola that pisses me off less. I have a Samsung TV and get a annoying terms have changed message about once a week that I can't make go away. Screw that. I will not buy another Samsung, some other brand can piss me off. |

Rarely are updates needed, or an improvement. I hate how Verizon and Samsung force that shit. I finally dumped Verizon and used Android Developer tools to yank off all their shit off my phone. It runs much better now. My next phone will probably be a Pixel, but not until this one dies . |
