As a metal band they are kind of in the middle for me. They have some good songs but a lot of throwaway as well.

They have a few great songs, a few good songs, and a shitload of mediocre-to-bad songs.
They haven't had a great song since 2008, so I think that ship has sailed. |

I like their first 3 albums more than later stuff. Sadly I didn't really start liking Slipknot until their 3rd album... With the masks and makeup, I immediately chalked them up as another ICP copy and never paid them any attention. Years later I heard them at a friend's house and checked them out more.

One of my favorites. Not all of their stuff is great, but it’s all at least good.
I actually like some of the newer stuff a lot. Dying Song is a banger. |

As someone that is a melodeath and black metal fan I put Slipknot on the same level as Seether, Skillet, Korn and Nickleback.
Not metal, maybe hard rock. |

They opened Ozzfest 99 on the main stage. No one had ever heard of them. They killed it. Earlier stuff is best IMO.

I'd rather watch Rob Zombie in a small venue in Des Moines than a larger crowd at Wells Fargo arena and Slip Knot saying the crowd better react or they're going home.

Quoted: Good live show. View Quote This! Saw em at Ozzfest 2004. Was a good time. They played on the second stage so they could be closer to the fans. They had a monster circle pit going Main stage: Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Slayer, Dimmu Borgir, Superjoint Ritual, Black Label Society Second stage: Slipknot, Hatebreed, Lamb of God, Atreyu, Bleeding Through, Lacuna Coil, Every Time I Die, Unearth, God Forbid, Otep, Devildriver, Magna-Fi, Throwdown, Darkest Hour, Disown I dont listen to them much now, but they definitely had their place on my musical journey. |

Their first 4 albums REALLY grew on me over the years and Id say Im a fan. However, they have developed a super disturbing trend of firing critical members of their band in a manner considered poor standing. After Paul Grey died, Clown and Taylor were left unchecked and began to get rid of members that werent on board with them. They did Jordison DIRTY, as well as most recently Jay Weinberg and Shawn Fehn. Their musical work is always going to be amazing, and frankly Jim Root is super cool. Beyond that, the Slipknot I grew to love is no more. At least, my opinion of them now anyway. |

I can't get into it, I usually like more true/cult metal, but when it comes to popular bands, Lorna Shore's stuff seems a hundred times better than slipknot
