[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Ron DeSantis is arguably the Best U.S. Governor Ever! Have questions about the Presidential Run? (Page 3 of 4)
|
Quoted: You could run and add one more to the List. The truth is Trump was not shy about ignoring his advisors and it got him burned quite a bit. Quoted: Quoted: I imagine a lot of folks already know all of them are bullshitting us if they're politicians. As far as I can tell the biggest hate here on Trump is the bumpstock ban and red flag laws. Trump admitted before he was elected that he would refer to the most knowledgeable people he could find on matters he was weak on. What do you think Ron would do after something like the Vegas shooting? Check with the NRA, FIBs, FATF? You could run and add one more to the List. The truth is Trump was not shy about ignoring his advisors and it got him burned quite a bit. Since everyone in DC it s swamp he was probably right to ignore them 90% of the time. |
|
Quoted: I'm more worried about members here that are being easily duped by him and refuse to look behind the curtain because they have Trump Derangement syndrome. I'm not worried about him winning the nomination because that's not going to happen . Trump will win the nomination yep |
|
When it comes to his voiced opinions on things like border control, his plan to "fire" entrenched bureaucrats (deep state foot soldiers), etc I will have to take a VERY CLOSE look at those funding or otherwise supporting his campaign and see if THEIR known goals align with his campaign statements. If they don't I would have to wonder why they're pushing his campaign. |

Quoted: Donald J Trump hired the exact same Attorney General Jeb Bush would have hired - Bill Barr. Jeb's Granddaddie's Boy. When DeSantis does something that magnificently stupid I will stop supporting him too. I doubt he ever does. You think when the election was stolen from Trump and he called Bill and Chris Wray and said "elections been stolen do something!" and they laughed and hung up he finally figured out how stupid he had been? he put career deep staters in the top two Law Enforcement spots and now cries non-stop about them both like he had nothing to do with it. Meanwhile, we now have to straighten out the mess Trump allowed to happen when he was President and in control of the DOJ. Donald J. Trump and the J is for Jeb. Quoted: Quoted: He is supported by the Bush family. What else do you need to know? Donald J Trump hired the exact same Attorney General Jeb Bush would have hired - Bill Barr. Jeb's Granddaddie's Boy. This is one of the silliest arguments out there. Politics is full of scumbags. DeSantis’ press secretary apparently supported impeachment, do you hold that against him? |

Barr who was Bush Sr.'s AG who vocally supported Bush's 1989 "assault weapons " import ban (which is still on effect) AND who drafted the domestic "assault weapons" and magazine bans in Bush's crime Bill which eventually became Clinton's Bradey Bill. Barr publically stated he was for a perminent ban on mags over 10 rounds as well as a assault weapons ban. Yet, Trump chose him as another left leaning "best people". Now, go ahead and defend Tump with your screwed up logic like you always do. |

Quoted: Donald J Trump hired the exact same Attorney General Jeb Bush would have hired - Bill Barr. Jeb's Granddaddie's Boy. I'm hoping that you understand that POTUS does not get to just hire who he wants for positions that require the consent of the Senate you can rest assured that in many instances a POTUS is presented with a list of names that have already been hashed out by his staff and Senate staff and thus deemed "acceptable" and likely to be approved. Also remember that the GOP Senate made sure they never officially recessed the Senate in order to not allow Obama to make recess appointments, THEY DID THE SAME THING to Trump, a member of their OWN party... You think they're going to willingly allow someone in that is going to look into their crimes? |
|
Quoted: You're going to compare DeSantis record to Jebs? Now you're really reaching. Quoted: Quoted: I will say it right now, Jeb Bush was a great Governor of Florida. I had no complaints Two things… 1. Jeb turned out shitty later, so basing a trust on Governorship Acting might be risky. 2. The Bush family has been reportedly behind Ron. Anyone have clarification of this Bush Family Rumor? |

Quoted: Is this your third or fourth thread about your concern for Ron Desantis and his campaign launch? |

Quoted: Trump could have just stated, "Stop fighting. We are defeated. Lay down your arms and go home." How Probably the same way Nixon did after the patently obvious fraud that put JFK in office came to light. He took the high road, and let most Americans keep thinking their election system was a secure and meaningful system. Because the alternative with a highly armed civilian populace would be a series of neverending coups and revolutions placing autocrats in power, and the US would lose it's place as the defacto leader of the western world. Which, despite tranny shows and abortion and our only real choice being between Democrats and Republicans, we still are. |

Quoted: I'd rather go with a proven conservative in DeSantis. DeSantis was very conservative in congress and fought trump on amnesty and mega spending bills. DeSantis is a founding member of the freedom caucus. DeSantis tried to block Paul Ryan from becoming speaker. Trump fought for him. Trump was a massive disappointment and his own worst enemy. Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: I will say it right now, Jeb Bush was a great Governor of Florida. I had no complaints Two things 1. Ryan was always going to be speaker, there are only two reasons to oppose it, to get concessions or for internet credibility. |

Quoted: Trump is just stupid sometimes and made some bad decision's I won't argue that DeSantis is calculating because he is a politician at heart ,Trump isn't You hit the nail on the head. DeSantis talks to people, and when he makes a misstep, he walks it back, because he's a politician, and it's his JOB to represent the will of as many people as possible without abridging the rights of the minority his position prevents him from representing. Trump, as you say, isn't a politician. He's a salesman. His job is to sell Trump. The fact that you can say "Trump is just stupid sometimes" is the distinction. He doesn't know when he's made a bad decision because he's too stupid to recognize it, and when it's overwhelmingly pointed out to him, since he's a salesman and doesn't want to damage his brand, his ego prevents him from walking it back or trying to rectify it; he just slings the blame at other people. |

This distinction is evident on how they each view their COVID actions. Desantis admitted that lockdowns were a mistake. Trump stands by his policies. Refuses to even admit there was a better alternative in retrospect. |

Yes, politics is full of scumbags. Trump said he was going to run them out of town, instead he hired them. Now we have massive vote fraud the likes of which we have never seen before. Now go whine about DeSantis having a donor you don't like. |

You think they're going to willingly allow someone in that is going to look into their crimes? I am hoping you understand Trump promised to hire the best people. Was Jeff Sessions on the "acceptable list" of people Trump was allowed to hire? Because he was flat-out awful too, just like 99% of Trump's hires. And just so you know - when Trump came into office he could have hired the best person to be AG and he could have gotten him confirmed, like all presidents do when they are first elected, but he fucked it to high hell, as usual. But please go on about how its not actually Trump's fault that he is fooled over and over again. |

Unless someone here knows Sessions personally and has more insight than most do, I'm fairly certain that we were all blindsided by how impotent he was as AG. As far as him getting who he wanted for most any post in his first cabinet I'm not so certain especially since the Puzder nomination runs contrary to your theory. |

That EOD suit is a good choice because that tweet just blew up in his face... |
| I heard something about his plan to get rid of the IRS. If thats true then I would vote for him . . . after he follows through. Till then, i'll probably vote Trump since he already followed through on some pretty massive things that were thought to be impossible dreams. |

That EOD suit is a good choice because that tweet just blew up in his face... The sad thing is for every attack on Trump, DeSantis has a similar failing. Trump said some dumb things on the 2nd Amendment, DeSantis refused to spend political capital to get open carry and repeal red flag laws with a Republican supermajority. Trump spent too much, DeSantis just signed a state record spending bill in Florida. Trump hired bad people, so did DeSantis. Trump is unlikeable, DeSantis has no personality. Trump doesn’t appeal to soccer moms, neither does DeSantis. I could go on and on but we are going to need one of these two to win in 2024 and I would prefer to focus on that. |

Quoted: They have formed a cult around DeSantis. It's quite amusing to watch. If you dont believe me post a critism about DeSantis. They flock to it ![]() LOL There's some legit criticism for Ron. It's just that the Trumpinistas' posted criticism is overwhelmingly debunked. That's what happens when things are ignorantly parroted. |

Trump said some dumb things on the 2nd Amendment, DeSantis refused to spend political capital to get open carry and repeal red flag laws with a Republican supermajority. DeSantis pushed for both but the rinos are term limited and dgaf. Trump spent too much, DeSantis just signed a state record spending bill in Florida. Florida has record budget surplus Trump hired bad people, so did DeSantis. Trump is unlikeable, DeSantis has no personality. DeSantis actually talks and acts like an adult. Trump doesn't appeal to soccer moms, neither does DeSantis. DeSantis is very popular with woman. His pro parents rights is very popular. Excellent point, I'd love to hear from him how he feels he could move legislation forward at the national level with a MUCH more divided Congressional make up if he has trouble moving Pro 2A related bills in what SHOULD be the most favorable political environment for it? |

Quoted: He'll be a lame duck from day one. Or worse, since he can't be elected again he could go full on NYC populist on us. He already proved he gives no fucks about guns or the debt. That could very well work to our advantage if he feels he does not need to appeal to the electorate as a whole in order to be reelected. A POTUS in the second term can also focus more on driving their agenda late in the term rather than campaigning. I'd be more concerned about what a first term GOP POTUS is willing to compromise on to get reelected than any "lame duck" term. |

I don’t expect any pro 2nd Amendment legislation on the Federal level but a good Republican president hopefully will give us good judges. A squish like Bush will give us iffy judges. A Democrat will give us openly hostile judges. |
