This plus holster and belt is it for me.

I sold all my other militaria years ago to collectors/reenactors.

My grandfather said there were several P51's for sale in Mississippi after the war, $500 each.

I asked him why he didn't buy one and he said "I couldn't afford to keep it flying"

He ran a primary flying school from 40-44, flew B29's off of Tinian in 45.

I still have a PT19 prop on the wall of my den from a light prop strike on one of the trainers.

Still on my list...I saw my first one at a gun show in ‘84 or so.  Couldn’t believe that it was priced so high...$600!  Where’s that time machine??

An 1895 6mm Navy Lee, the straight-pull one. I have never even seen a military model-- there are a couple of sporting models with burnt throats that make the rounds of the local gun shows (or did when there were gun shows), with the price going up every time they change hands--

Oh, and a '41 Johnson.

A pickelhaube. Infantry with the spike.

When I was a kid my cousin's next door neighbor was an old WW1 vet. He had a bunch of militaria scattered around his garage where we often played.
Among all that stuff was a spiked pickelhaube.
We would hold it on our heads, run and try to ram/stick the spike into the cardboard boxes he had stacked around.

That old pickelhaube got pretty well beat up.
It would probably be worth a fortune now.

I might could swing it in 1946 dollars. Sell half of each in 2021 dollars and buy the guns to feed the rest.
