Mkay, got my Luminox 3182 (and changed bracelet right away to a more comfortable authentic Nato strap in Navy Blue). Love the thing. Whether or not they are Navy SEALs items (which we know they aren't), they are cool watches. Some of them at least. This is.  Luminox3182 by SoloDallas, on Flickr |

This is what a real one looks like. Notice the difference in the Bezel, the Chapter ring, and the dial Printing. I've seen some good fakes in the last 5 years and could not tell till I popped the back and got into the movement..... It's painful to tell the customer that the watch they got off the Bay is a fake (I dread those conversations).

Bulova Accutron 214, mid 60s vintage. Not original, purists might cringe but I feel I have given it new life as a Spaceview. I love transitional technology. It can be so ridiculous but make perfect sense in the specific time and space in which it was conceived.
I may swap the hands for something a little more appropriate. |

I haven't had any issues with calibration and it matches most of the people that I ride, run or swim with. Sometimes the temperature reading is way higher than ambient. The altimeter switches between baro or GPS depending on the activity you are running. I think you can set it to default on way or the other all the time but I havent. |

A post in GD reminded me that I still need to post up my pocket watch. This belonged to my grandfather. He purchased is just after immigrating to the US from Portugal. I never met him, he died when my mother was young. Best I can tell from online research is that it was made in 1906 by American Waltham Watch of Mass. They made 1000 of that model. There are several small marking on the inside of the back case. An appraiser thought they are pawn dates.
My grandmother would always take it out while telling me stories about my grandfather. She said one day she would give it to me. My parents had it cleaned, tuned and the crystal replace and gave it to me the day I was married. I wore it with my tux. It still comes out on very special occasions. It's been 20 years since it was cleaned but I refuse to send it out and I definitely don't trust the kids in the mall watch shop.
