Hey guys, been a huge fan of pirate and privateer history, culture etc.  Just read pirate latitudes.  Anyone know of any others along the same lines?   Don't want a full on history book but something with a story that adds history into it.

For fantasy pirate fiction, I really liked Wyvern. It's been years since I read it though.

The Devil's Fire by Matt Tomerlin was free a couple weeks ago in Kindle. It's book 1 in a 4 book series. It has good reviews but I haven't started it yet.

The Sea Rover's Practice by Benerson Little is a good nonfiction book looking at pirate life, skills, and tactics.

When Michael Crichton died they found an unpublished book, Pirate Latitudes. It’s not his best but it’s worth a read.

I know I read that, but I can't recall anything about it.

Some of the Flashman books have pirate storylines.  I think in Flashman's Lady, his wife is kidnapped by a pirate.

Recently listened to audio book of Republic of Pirates, nonfiction but I enjoyed it.  Had a good narrative so I think a fiction reader would enjoy also.

I just finished a 2 part series called Where Loyalties Lie by Rob J Hayes.  I highly recommended it.

Both have been mentioned, but I’ll add a plug for them:

Treasure Island is a truly great story, a classic. And Crichton’s Pirate Latitudes was a fun read that would readily translate to film.
