I own these
Attached File of the three though, if in a pinch I'd probably take the ACE, then the Mini 14. I love the Woo, but it's whole lack of spare parts kills it from being anything other than the occasional range toy |

If limited to your collection i'd go with the ACE as well.
If we're talking my collection, the only non AR 5.56 i own is my M85NP, so i'd go with that one. |

I really liked the SIG 556. I got to fire one a few times, it was very nice.

Obtainable choice is an AUG
Unobtainable choice is SIG 55x series |

I've had a thing for the BRN 180 lately for some reason. SCAR or x95 wouldn't be bad though.

View Quote THIS Maybe the Swiss toy would be worth a look - really liked them when they came out A 5.56 IMI Galil could be a cool bit of kit too |
|
For fun? Sig 5XX or AUG.
For anything practical... AR. We're not exactly in the middle of a golden age of peace, prosperity, and fun range time. |
|
fits your screen name Though I will say, I've always kind of wanted one |

Interesting OP wouldn't choose the Daewoo K2.
That'd be my choice from what's pictured. (If it's due to lack of rail space then I understand. I've seen them fired a lot and it's extremely rare for anything to break on them). AR is the best, but I also like the AUG and SG 551-2 (or any of the SG 55x series really). G36K is fine too, unless you get it too hot. |
|
Don't have a pic of them, but had a pair of converted Saiga .223's. Slapped east german wire folding stocks on them. The cheek weld sucked, but they were probably the most accurate AK's I've ever shot. Never got to mount optics on them though.

View Quote Quite honestly I think it's a better 5.56 rifle than the AR. What hampers the Woo here is lack of spare parts. I'd love for someone to make a US version of the damn thing or at least make spare parts for them. |

As the owner of an Exeter 551A1, it's not the 5XX you're looking for. Not terrible, just not great no matter how cool it looks.

I had an HK-93 for a while, went back to AR’s. Kraut space magic wears off.

If for fun pick whichever.
If for SHTF or what not, my rule is only rifles I can get spare parts for and can easily work on. ARs, x95, or Aug. |
|
Of those, the ACE because it is probably easier to get parts. Outside the list, AR-180, CETME-L if I could find a few spares, Sig 556. Beryl Archer if I.O. hadn't fucked that up. If I had a time machine maybe a HK SL6.
