That IS a great pic, OP.

Here's a foggy morning pic I took off the front porch here at home from about a month or so ago.

Most models will bow out if it's rainy,  some are real troopers though.

I used to be timid like that.  Now, I love shooting in the rain with the right precautions.  The images can be amazing.

When traveling you just deal with it or leave the camera in the car.   I don't haul that crap with me to just leave it in the car.

Get the right gear with weather sealing and you'll be fine.

I'm certainly not a storm chaser, but I do not shy away from the opportunity to capture scenes if a storm finds me.

Lower Calf Creek Falls, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Utah in monsoon season. You can see the angry sky if you look closely. We got thoroughly soaked on this 6-mile hike to/from the falls.

Great photo, OP!

Rain is hard.  Just the mechanics of keeping your lens clear of rain drops is hard.  Then there's the matter of keeping your equipment from failing.  Then there's the matter of keeping you from failing.

Oh, and trying to capture the visuals of the rain.  Something I've never really been able to do any effect.

This is kind of a post snow/rain/waterfall photo.  We were all glad to see this sunrise.   Hell, even a steel grey hard overcast would have been welcomed.  Anything but what was coming down on top of us that night.  A morning looking up at 400 feet of iced ropes above us, and 400 feet of additional new climbing above that.   And then a half mile back down.  Didn't get rained on again until three or four later, though.  That was relief.

Wish I could have done it better.  But, it is what it is, and I'm happy enough with that.

This is what's left out of the framing of that photo...

I've done a bit of outdoor sports shooting in the rain... I generally make a rain cover out of clear plastic, the shrink wrap stuff they sell for old windows in the winter is the best. Along with a big lens hood, and almost always on a monopod with a remote shutter release. Tape the plastic to the lens hood then back and over the lens and camera, overlapping at the bottom.

Very cool place, though the trail was cooler. Hauled my film SLR from KM 82 to Aguascalientes.

I'd love to do the Incan Trail, but even with porters, my knees can't hack it anymore.

Most cameras have pretty good weatherproofing. Only concern is keeping rain off the lens.
