Took an image for the newsletter today of a small AR model. Wanted to give it a realistic appearance regardless of scale so I dug up a small bottle cooler vest and mini-gloves that were all SHOT Show swag from previous years. Also needed some dirt, but it’s been pouring here so I collected some loose sand that was in the bed of my pickup and dried it in the oven at 250 for about an hour.
Setup shot: 
Two images straight out of camera to show variation in exposures: 
In order to only light what I needed on such a small subject, I used a small flashlight to paint it. Exposures were f10 and about 20-30 seconds each. I used the wireless app on my phone to control shutter. Camera Fuji X-H1 with 18-135mm lens. Final image, just a few touchups to eliminate imperfections in the paint finish.
