15 years ago, I with the help of my wife installed a vented range hood.

It was a good investment but it was showing its age so I wanted to replace it.

I found one just like it but with a higher CFM

It took longer than I expected but we did it in a day.

Funny, I just put in a vented range hood the other day.
Went fairly smooth.
A bit nerve wracking cutting a 6" hole in the house though...
Now it looks like a stove update is next on your list.

Yep, we're looking.  It's hard to find a 36" range that doesn't cost more than the house, or one not made of old beer cans.

I had to cut through brick veneer.

Whatever you decide on, get the extended warranty.  They're not made like your current one anymore.

Ain't that the truth

We've been here 31 years, the range came with the house.

No telling how old that thing is.  Two burners work, a third does but you need vise grips, and the oven is great.

And it has standing pilots so you can cook when the power is out

We did for many years

It's incredible how much cleaner the kitchen is now

If you are shopping, Ventahood  makes one of the best on the market.

OP, I see you have a fireplace.  A strong power vent will stop the draft on your fireplace and pull smoke into your house.  Same with CO from your furnace.

Makeup air is a thing.

The fireplace isn't used.  The previous owner burned construction scraps and burned up the fire brick.  It's just decoration now.

The furnace is a gas pack and is outside.

I keep a window cracked just a bit to allow air inside
