Animal Farm, the "Left Behind" Series, and other books about dystopian futures have also skyrocketed.

I bought a copy for my wife to read a week ago.

One of my co-workers daughter ordered a copy off Amazon and Amazon made it signature required via UPS. Kind of weird for a book.

Just let my buddy borrow my copy. I told him to try not to he too creeped out by the accuracy of it.

Ha. I just bought it this week. Along with Animal Farm, Brave New World, and Fahrenheit 451. Figured I'd grab them before Amazon starts removing them from sale, and they're paperbacks so they can't yank them from my Kindle.

I don't think he intended for 1984 to be read as a how to manual though.

Funny, I just talked to someone who mentioned they ordered it because of all the recent “1984” references heard lately.

I read it many years ago..probably due for a re-read.

If you all remember, libtards were crowing about 1984 when Trump was elected and somehow thought it was about him. How fucking stupid do you have to be to believe that.

Hilarious. "Yeah I know all the things the book describes is what we're actually doing, but if you're smart enough to read the book correctly you'll realize that orange man bad."

When I was searching for homesteading/self sufficency books online at my local library, 1984 popped up too, so I did a search on that. All kinds of editions have high numbers of holds placed on them.

It's a shame that people haven't read it and Animal Farm sooner. It might have opened some eyes, assuming those that read it could understand it. Too late now.

https://electricliterature.com/please-stop-comparing-things-to-1984/This made me smile. The liberals are upset that we are quoting 1984 and using it against them.

1984 and Animal Farm are more prophetic than ever. I actually just recently listened to them before the election. Both are free to listen to with an Audible subscription (yes I know it's Amazon). Brave New World is also included free, but still on my to listen to list. I do not remember reading it in school. I did read Fahrenheit 451 in school. I should pick that one up, but it's not included with a membership.

They will understand the tyranny they elected by reading a book and fight it by lighting candles.

The very definition of too little too late.

Good find.

She's so myopic (if not actually disingenuous/dishonest) that instead of objectively applying the universal principles and universal mentalities and observations on human nature and tyranny highlighted in 1984 to any humans in any situation in any country in any time with whatever political/social label and then analyzing the specific dynamics involved in each situation on a case-by-case basis and within each situation's larger context, she myopically applies the lessons of 1984 only to the "right wing" and can't even acknowledge the same universal truths about groups or positions she automatically considers to be righteous.  Major blind spot.

Also, she misses the fact that at the ground level, many of these "opposing" groups are just tools themselves being handled/managed by a largely unseen ruling class.

Seems to be on backorder too, at least the edition I looked at. They were also offering a bundle of the 3 books, 1984, animal farm, and fahreneit 451.

Rachel Klein is an author and former high school English teacher currently living in Brookline, MA. She's written personal and culture essays for Catapult, Slate, Bitch Media, Electric Literature, Mel Magazine, and more, and her humor writing has appeared online in The New Yorker, McSweeney's, and Reductress. Her current project is a novel about an unlikely friendship between two Orthodox Jewish women living in Crown Heights.

Couldn't even hack it as a teacher, now freelances for shit wages and maybe once in a blue moon gets some blurb in The New Yorker after she sucks off some editor at a cocktail party. What a loser.

Ah, but her other article is How she no longer is an orthodox jew, so it figures her articles are about condemning whiteness while hiding behind a jewish identity she doubtlessly still identifies as just to avoid having to consider herself white.
