Holy crap OpenBSD 7.8 everything worked out of the box.
I built a mid tower pc using a Phantek mid tower case a barely used Asrock Z390 Pro4 motherboard, Intel i3 8100 four core cpu, 16 gigs of GSkill 3200 ram, Intel 240 gig SSD, and a old XFX R7700 AMD video card., to test things I had issues with in a ProMox VM.
All stuff I had lying around in my pile-o-pc stuff.
With OpenBSD using a AMD video card is a given especially an older one like a HD7700 so in it went.
Also OpenBSD disables hyper-threading as a security feature during install so the i3 8100 is a good choice because its a four core cpu without hyper-threading or turbo boost and it runs at 3.6 ghz.
I read that most Realtek ALC sound chipsets work, I have always had issues with sound cards in the past either it was a pita to get going or just never worked.
Installed just a little while ago and aboulutly everything worked out of the box, that has never happened with older OpenBSD versions before.
The only tweaking I had to do was adjust the volume up using mixerctl via the command line.
Default resolution is 1080p with zero screwing around with X config files.

Feels like I am home. Xeyes.
Installed Firefox with pkg_add, plays videos great.
This install might stay awhile.
The display is very sharp and very nice, much better than the potato pics show.
